Topic: RE: PEBB coverage for lap band???
Is there a specific reason you wouldn't have weight loss surgery if the band weren't covered? The RNY and DS are both great surgeries. Pick up a copy of Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies or Weight Loss Surgery: A Lighter Look at a Heavy Subject and read about all the pros and cons of each. Life's too short to put off WLS.

Topic: RE: Any Salem Hospital Patient's out there????
Hi Laura,
Dr. Nair did my surgery around 14 months ago. I saw Dr. Boulay for some of the follow-ups since Dr. Nair was on vacation at that time. I'm hoping to go to the support group meeting tomorrow night. Will you be there?

Topic: Switchin Dr.s! yay!!
Dr O'rourke , after starting my surgery on april 28th and aborting it due to the shape my liver was in. Has decided, after extensive testing to rule out portal hypertension, not to go forth with my surgery. So I have seeked out a second opinion, with Dr Tersigni's office in Coos Bay. I am waiting to hear back from them today with their decision. fingers crossed and praying .

Topic: RE: PEBB coverage for lap band???
****UPDATE****
Called Kaiser (Salem) to find out about the lap band. Was first told "No WLS is not covered." then "Oh you have PEBB.... looks like WLS is covered... wow that's a good plan." Then when I asked out the lap band specifically was told "It doesn't look like it's covered, you should schedule an appoinment with one of the bariatric doctors and they would be able to let you know about the band."
What?!?!
I'm supposed to go see the doctor to find out if the band is covered? That just doesn't sound right.
I put a call into a WLS center, hoping someone there can clarify about Kaiser.

Hi, I am planning on having a vertical gastrectomy. I was wondering if anyone else in Oregon has done this procedure and if their insurance covered it. Thanks
