Surgery Date Scheduled
I got the official surgery date today. May 17th, 2006. They had to switch surgeons from Dr. O'Rourke to Dr. Deveney. I go in on May 4th for my pre-op work and will share my thoughts on the Doc. Surgery will be at OHSU which will be tough for me. My son and I lived up there in 1995 while he was being treated and eventually passed away from Leukemia. Emotionally it is difficult to be up there. I am also nervous because I am a single mom and will be going through surgery alone. My kids will be with my dad in Salem while I have the surgery and during a portion of recovery. Gathering a support network during recovery will be a difficult challenge for me. One question: How long post surgery should I have somebody around in case of complications?
O.K. I'm really confused. Who's Jill and who's Barbara? I'm Tracy and I had the surgery 2 weeks ago. I'm doing great. The skim milk diet was the hardest part of this whole process!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cheated several times and only lost 5 lbs before surgery. Although my surgery went fine, I'm sure it would have been even better if I had lost more weight and stuck to it. I became lactose intolerant and had to swich to soy. I used vanilla "light" soy. I don't think there was too much difference between the skim milk and light soy but I still didn't lose the weight. If you can stick to the milk, I believe you'll be really suprised at how easy it is after the surgery. So, whoever you are, Jill or Barbara, you can email me direct at [email protected] if it's easier than replying to the postings. I would love to be able to give ssupport!!!!! Tracy F.
