I have a surgery date!!! ...

I have a surgery date!!! It is next MONDAY! April 10th. Barring any unforseen road blocks when I see the surgeon on Wednesday this week, I will have had my surgery by this time next week!! I am really excited but know I will get really anxious on Sunday night, if not sooner. Pray for me and wish me well. Julia

That is great news Julia! It's good that you are realistic in anticipating that you will have nerves this weekend, if not sooner. After months of fighting for approval, and the joy and victory of getting approval, it is going to be normal to suddenly realize "oh my gosh, I am really doing this". I did fine up until the night before, and even then I did O.K. I remember mostly a sudden rush of fear about giving up feeling normal about eating the foods I loved the most. There was no way for me to know that not only would I really for real lose the weight, but that I have never felt those feelings I was sure I would be feeling. I enjoy food and eating, and actually get as much if not more pleasure from it, because I am in control and I am at peace with my relationship with food. Well, I still have my moments, because that is normal too, but it is so much easier now! Also, don't worry that you might freak out and not want to go down the hall (that was probably MY biggest worry) because you won't. You will do great! It's O.K. to ask your surgeon at your appointment this week to give you something to help you sleep the night before. I did and it was probably a good thing, because the next morning I felt rested and ready. Good luck! Patty

Thanks Nancy. Yes I did notify Jean. I had a short time since I found out the date because I had to leave Tuesday afternoon to travel to K. Falls to see the surgeon today. Everything looks good except I had to have an EKG because that had not been done yet and if it is o.k. Monday will be the date. We just got home later this evening. I hope to see everyone at the support group on the 24th. I hope to be 2 weeks out by then. He did tell me that because I am an apple shape and not a pear, he may not be able to do the lap surgery and I may be open, but he will try. I sure hope it will be the lap. Julia
