APPROVED!!!!
I called my insurance today to see if they had an answer for me. I thought it would be too soon BUT---they looked in the computer and said I was approved! I am very happy about this and anxious to get in touch with Dr. Mirande's staff to schedule a pre-op evaluation. I haven't told many people about my plans yet, only my husband and my boss who is a friend also. I will tell my mother just a few days before my surgery date, as she will stew, too much, too long if I tell her sooner. My two boys and their families will know as soon as I get the date. I am glad to be able to tell everyone on the message boards though.
I don't think I have really ever introduced myself so here goes. I am 57 years old and like everyone else have tried and lost weight several times but cannot keep it off. I am at my heaviest at this time with a BMI of about 53. My knees hurt, my hips hurt, I have sleep apnea, insulin resistance, high cholesteral and high blood pressure controlled by medications, C-pap and periodic injections in my knees and hips.
I work full time as a nurse in 3 different assisted living/memory/alzheimers care units. I do oversite and training of staff and some hands on nursing. I like the job but look forward to retirement as my husband is already retired and having a lot of fun.
We have two boys (men), one 37 and one 25. Both married and the oldes has 3 grandchildren for us to enjoy. Daughter-in-laws are wonderful. My oldest son and family left today on a cruise for Spring Break with the grand kids and wanted us to go too, but I couldn't enjoy a cruise in the shape I am in now. Maybe next time!
I have enjoyed reading everyone's posts and have posted a couple of times too. Keep me in your prayers for a fast and safe surgery. Julia
My husband moved to Portland when he was in High School and graduated from Wilson. His last name is Weber, related to the Weber's Bakery Weber's. He is 58. My youngest son and wife live in Beaverton. I just read your profile and sounds like you have really had a tough couple years. Hope everything continues to get better and better and your cancer is gone for ever. Scary. Julia
Hi Julia,
Welcome to the boards. How wonderful that you were able to get an approval so quickly!! The surgery is really a miracle and you will feel so very much better in a short period of time. I can't vouch for your knees and joints as my knee actually hurts worse now than it had, but you know what? I'm also MUCH more active than I had been.
Anyway, congrats and welcome!
Pat
