Hi Barbara. My surgeon requires her patients to go on this skim milk diet to reduce the fatty liver. One month before surgery you can have all the skim milk you want over a 5 to 10 minute period, 3 or 4 times a day. It is supposed to give you just enough protein with minimal calories so fat will be burned. It will make surgery technically easier by reducing the size of the liver. But the first day was VERY hard. How far along in the process are you?

So is skim milk all you have for that month? I am just getting started. I don't have a date yet. I feel that waiting on the Insurance OK is the most nerve racking part of this. My things were just sent to my Insurance last week so I am just begining the trip. I am in Hazel Dell. Right near 99th St and Hazel Dell Ave. I work on 99th St and Hwy 99. Who is your Dr.? I am going Deveney at OHSU. This skim milk thing sounds really interesting. Barbara

Well, you can also have any non calorie beverage.

You mean as diet pop or tea and NOTHING else. Well that should remove some fat from somewhere. I guess I am just surprised because I thought I had heard of every diet that ever been invented. I am up for it. It should be good training for what is to come. When is your surgery date? Who is your Dr.? Barbara

My surgeon is Leslie Cagle. This "diet" is not just a regular, everybody try it diet. It is medically supervised and should ONLY be used if your doc says. My surgery date is 4-21 and I can't waite!!! What insurance do you have?

Congrats Tracy! I haven't heard of anyone doing the Skim Milk diet before surgery either, but if it's what your Doc. requires, it's a good thing to do. They know that it will help in Surgery, I'd do it Good luck on everything! Jen M.

Tracy did you mention at one time about sugar free syrup? Is that the Ice Cream syrup? Jen near Ontario. I was born in Emmett. Grew up in Homedale and then lived in Kuna for 15 years before I made the big leap to Portland and then Vancouver. I own a home in Emmett. Barbara

Butting in as Tracy hadn't responded to you yet and I know her so I know what she bought. It is the Torani syrup that they use for coffee drinks and italian ice drinks. You can get it at Winco and probably other stores as well. I also have Cagle for my surgeon on the same diet and have lost 7 pounds so far in a week. Good luck.
