Looking for a pre op support group near beaverton ore
Hi there, I am in Vancouver Washington and there is a pre-op group for Dr. Cagle and Dally's patients every third Wednesday at 6:30 at Southwest Washington Medical Center and at this time it is open to anyone wanting to atten free of charge. I think you can call Legacy and ask for Dr. Emma Patterson's support group and I think OHSU has one also. Good luck!!
Hi Janice
Here is the link for OHSU: http://www.ohsuhealth.com/SurgicalWeightReduction/index.html
I am registered for their required seminar on April 11. To register you need to call 503.494.8372

Hi Nancy , I found a group for my first meeting I went with the one at good sam, I go to the required one next week the 21st but thankyou so much for the info , I did check out the one at ohsu , but the office that was going to set me up there is not covered by my insurance yet they said it would be at lest 11 months away , so I decided to go with the one at good sam in portland .. but thanks again Janice
Janice,
There is a VERY active Beaverton support group. It is lead by a great guy by the name of Scott. If you email me I can give you his contact information.
The group meets on the second Wednesday of every month.
Beaverton Community Center
12350 Southwest 5th Street
Beaverton, OR 97005
You can easily find it by going to the corner of SW 5th and SW Hall across from the Beaverton Public Library.
The meeting starts at 7:00 PM and goes until 8:50 PM.
Also, many people use the meeting as a place to bring and exchange clothing, so feel free to bring clothes you no longer fit in.
Some of the folks get together before the meeting for dinner, and some also get together afterward for a cup of coffee or something just to hang out. Very fun group of folks!
Hope this helps!
Blessings,
dina
Hi Dina , I will keep the meeting place in my mind it my take me awhile to get the guts up to come lol because im house bound right now I am so big I just don't go out much , I have been big all my life and have hered so much about my weight that I have made me a cave and thats where I stay most of the time .. But I have faith that things will change for me thanks again Dina janice
Janice,
I have a little bit of the same problem as you ... I tend to hide myself in my house unless I "have" to go out. I'm getting a bit better about it but it's still hard for me to go to things that are unknown to me. I've been trying to work up the nerve to go to a support group meeting in Salem but haven't quite gotten there yet!
Just wanted to let you know you are not alone!
