Any other pre-ops out there?

Hi there! I'm just wondering if there are any other pre-ops out there? I have Regence insurance so I'm going through their 6 month required pre-op period. I have to lose at least 15 pounds. I had my 1 month check-in at the Obesity Institute yesterday and have lost 6 pounds so far ... 9 more to go! Woo hoo! I have an overnight sleep study schedule for March 17 ... not really looking forward to that! Anyway, just wondering if anyone else is out there going through this? I know that the next 5 months will probably go by quickly but right now it doesn't seem like it can happen fast enough! Deanna

Hi Deanna. I'm not pre-op, but I did want to root you on. Congrats on the 6 lb. loss. The time will go by slowly and then really pick up at the end. Do keep posting. Take care. Peg

Hello Deanna, I too am pre-op, but unfortunately I haven't even begun the 6 month diet...but way to go for you! You are SO very close at attaining that goal! Unfortunately our Insurance was changed when we moved here and could no longer afford our old Ins. We have 4 small boys and my dh's new Job does not offer Ins....which lead us to use Oregon Medicaid, and I don't see too much opportunites at the moment, but you never know...anyway, I had to write and wish you luck!! Take care. Jen

Congratulations, Deanna! Keep your eyes on the prize and the time will go by quicker than you think. Best of luck with the sleep study. My advice is to bring your own pillow and some warm socks (I was cold during my test). You will have electrodes stuck to your head in a few places and will have to deal with adhesive in your hair the next day. Make sure to pack your conditioner for the morning shower. My hair needed it after all the scrubbing. My surgery date is 4/17, yours will be here in a flash!

Hi Patricia! Woweee! Your surgery date is quickly approaching! Are you nervous and excited? I saw on your profile that you have Regence BCBS. Did you have to do the same 6 month waiting period? Did you lose your 5%? Which surgeon are you going with? I'd love to hear all about your pre-op care! Deanna

Hi Deanna, Yikes! My surgery date is quickly approaching. I am both outrageously excited, but nervous at the same time. Send me an email at [email protected] and we can talk about the insurance, if you like. I have been working out every morning and watching what I eat, but I still need to lose a few more pounds before next month. I think the worst part of the pre-op stuff was the sleep study (I had to do 2!) and all the waiting. It is worth it though. I feel so determined. My best to you! Patti
