How much does a lap band cost

Hello Everyone, Linda here. Can you tell me how much it would cost to get a lap band done? I have Atena PPO but I do believe all they cover is the RNY. I would prefer to have the lapband but might not be able to afford it. Any one know the price difference? Thank you, Linda

Depends on where you go. Lap band I have seen in the US from $10,000 and RNY usually $25,000 and more.

I'm originally from Central Oregon and now live in Louisiana. I was self-pay because my insurance does not cover any type of bariatric surgery. The total cost for the surgery, including hospital, anesthesiologist and 1 year of follow-up care/fills was $12,900. I did extensive research on my surgeon and he came highly recommended. I am extremely satisfied and have no regrets. I keep trying to convince her to travel here to have the surgery. Many people do. However, she has a 3 year old and doesn't feel comfortable leaving her at home while she travels for surgery. Hi Linda, I had my lap band done in Sept.2005 by Dr. Tersigni in North Bend/Coos Bay. He charges $12,200. That includes visits and fills for a year. He is a great surgeon. Marilyn

Hello there Linda, I finally scheduled my surgery for April to get the Lapband. Yes I am going to have this done in Mexico. I know alot of people think it is a bad idea so did I at first. After alot of research and travel to the city where the Dr. is, I feel okay with it. The cost is less than half of what the doctors want up here. And besides band-aids do not cost $15.00 each there.. LOL ...$8,000.00.Good luck..I will let you know how it went. Kathy
