Hi Everyone, I am post-op almost 15 months and I seem to be stuck as far as weight loss goes. I have lost 155lbs, now weighing in at 175 and am so very excited about it! However, I would really love to lose 40 more pounds. Does anyone have any ideas how I can jump start my loss?? Any help will be truly appreciated. Thanks so much!! ~Paulett

Once you reach a "goal" weight it doesn't take much food to maintain it. And our pouches stretch a little and we are eating a bit more. To start losing you have to eat less. I would think going with protein drinks or food 4 days a week will help. The other 3 days you can eat as you have been. If you don't start losing again, go with the protein 5 days a week. That's how we started losing our weight to begin with - ate very little and what we did eat was protein drinks and no carbs ( bread, chips, pasta, rice, ice cream, or any deserts).

Jerry had some good advice. Also keep in mind that skin weighs a lot and although you probably don't have 40 lbs of skin hanging around, you probably have at least 10 if not more, depending on how well you "shrunk up." I started out close to where you are and am closing in on 2 years now and am down to only 189, so I know how you feel. For me it's all work from here on out and it's hard to get on the stick sometimes. I too hope to lose another 30-35 but will just be happy if I see another 10-20 at this point. You are still so soon out you probably can kick it up another notch pretty easily. Good luck! Dina

Jerry's advice is about right. If I look at my diet that first year it was pretty straight and narrow (as in almost all protein based). I lost most of my weight that first year. I would like to lose another ten, but I am so darn happy with the weight I lost that I am really only motivated to do good enough to not GAIN anything. I guess that would be called maintenance. I am convinced that areobic excercise is most helpful in kickstarting the weight loss. I also think it comes down to calories in calories out. The same darn equation that has been around forever. I also think my mind and body had to take a little break after losing about 150. That is a lot of weight in one year!! Then I enjoyed another twenty pounds coming off, but at a much slower pace. Good luck! Patty

Im 16 months out and eventho I have the band I've also hit that " oh my gosh Im so close why has my weight stopped moving". Those last few pounds are the hardest and I was given some good adivse, protein, protein, protein, and drink water until your eye balls float I also just ordered the book "losing the last 30lbs" by Dr. Terry Simpson, I ordered on Obesity Help but they were not able to get it, which turned out great because I found it on Amazon.com for $12.99, 1/2 the price. Good luck to you ! Gai
