Anyone from Eugene Oregon Area considering RNY

Hi Everyone, Happy New Year! I would like to talk to those of you who have had, or are planning to have the RNY surgery up in Portland. I know Dr. F. used to do it here in Eugene, but presently, there are no doctors that are local to us anymore that perform it at Sacred Heart. Have any of you heard good things about certain Drs. in Portland? Thanks for the assist. Linda

You're not that far from Coos Bay. Dr. Stephen Tersigni did my lap RNY. He's probably done 1,000 of them by now sohe's had lots of experience. Took about an hour and was out of hosp 3rd morn. Bay Area Hosp was the best for patient care. Also have RV sites at the hosp for people wanting to stay in their RV's. I was lucky in that it only took 6 weeks to get pre-approval for surgery, and Dr. Tersigni's staff took care of all that. All in all I was very happy with my experience there. Jer

Hi Linda- I live in Springfield and work at the u of o. I'm hoping to have Dr. O'Rourke from OHSU do my RNY in March. I went up last week for the info seminar which is the first step in the process. I originally wanted Dr McConnell, but Dr O'Rourke has an interest in Barretts Esophogus and Reflux issues and I have problems with that, so I thought I'd go with him. Teri V

Linda I live near Portland and had surgery with Dr. Tersigni as well. Eventho its a 3-4 houdrive for me it has been worth every mile.Besides the fact that he was thousands cheaper then the Portland Dr.'s ,he and his staff are just awesome. !! Gail

Linda, I live in Eugene and went to Portland for my RNY. My surgeon was Dr Emma Patterson and she was wonderful! I was referred to her by my PCP here in Eugene and have not been disappointed at all! Additionally, I met with my sleep doctor, Marilyn Datzman at Sacred Heart, in November and she informed me that they are trying to start a bariatric sugery dept at Sacred Heart. At that time she said they were very close to hiring 2 surgeons from CA. You might want to inquire about the status of the them starting surgeries here. Darla
