Anyone have RNY with Dr. Read in Corvallis?

I attended my required seminar at OHSU last night, and was less than thrilled with it. I'm re-thinking my desire to have my surgery there. Has anyone had the RNY in Corvallis at Good Sam with Dr. Robt Read? I'd really be interested to know how it went, how your experience with him was, etc....his office staff seem nice and willing to be personable. I got the impression at OHSU that the importance was to get through the Powerpoint presentations as quickly as possible and get out of there......it was just weird. Teri: I had Lap RNY w/ Dr. Read in July of '04. No problems. No complications. They have a pretty good support group going. My only complaint is that I don't think his dietician is worth much. Just my personal opinion. I also had colon cancer surgery w/ Dr. Read in '02. He is a very caring, compassionate Dr. I like him a lot. Good luck with your decision. Cindy P.

Thanks, Cindy. I found out they require a $750 up front payment and I just can't afford that. That's why I had to wait 3 years for my insurance to begin covering the surgery--if I had that kind of money laying around I'd be rich! So, I guess it's OHSU for me. Teri
