Hi everyone,
I've been lurking for a long time but decided to finally introduce myself. I've been battling my insurance company for months after they verbally approved but then reneged when the official paperwork was submitted. So, I've decided because of my grad school schedule that I'm going to self-pay and continue appealing to see if I can get reimbursed at a later time. But, I want to do this now.
Anyway, everyone's posts really helped and inspired me to pursue this course of action, and I'm happy to say that I'm scheduled to have the lap-band surgery performed on December 16th with Dr. Jay Jan at Legacy Good Samaritan in Portland. :D
Welcome Breckan!
I'm glad you finally decided to introduce yourself! And I'm glad to hear you have a surgery date ... how exciting!
I'm still waiting for insurance. But I went to Good Sam for an informational class and was impressed by them. I wish you well with your surgery ... keep us posted!!!

Hi, how exciting only 10 more days until your surgery. I had the lap band a year ago and it was the best thing I ever did.
Keep us posted on your progress and feel free to join us on the lap band board as well. There are so many wonderful people there that will/have gone thru the same thing as you'll be going thru.

Thank you everyone for the well wishes!
I'm getting more and more excited everyday, but am also in the middle of finals so my attention is a bit divided.
Five days after the surgery I am traveling back home to Alaska for a few weeks, so I'm a bit nervous about flying so soon after, but I think it will be ok. I'm probably going to purchase some first class upgrades so I don't have to fly in the "cattle car" so soon after surgery.
I'll update on my progress after the surgery, and thanks again everyone for the support!
