was your change for better?

I would say most of us got WLS done for our health. We wanted to live longer and not have the health problems associated with being obese. Others wanted to feel better about themselves and have more self esteem by not being the "fatty" anymore. Others still wanted to relieve the loneliness and emptiness in their life by finally looking halfway decent. Fat people don't always have a lot of friends outside of family for many reasons. Not being able to get around as well, and their bad self image keeps them inside their homes. And single, maybe divorced, "fatties" feel no one would want them. A fringe benefit of losing that stigma with WLS is that you may suddenly become more attratctive to the opposite sex as the new you. For me, WLS has cured my diabetes and high blood pressure. My knees no longer ache and my mild restless leg syndrome is gone. I can now get a good night's sleep. What it hasn't done is improve my dating life any. Looks like another Thanksgiving eating by myself without the company of a lovely lass. But I sure can't complain about the other benefits I've reaped. LOL Now how have you benefitted? Jer

Hey Jer! Well, my husband married me when I was fat, but he's a-likin' me even more now. I feel more like having fun. The weight loss has been a gift for both of us. I no longer have joint pain, high blood pressure or high cholestral! I feel like doing things, when I used to isolate at home all the time. I walk without getting out of breath, do housework without taking several breaks and feel "normal". I was very close to being diabetic, but that has resolved itself.
