has anyone had lap-band in oregon
Tami,
There are quite a few Bandsters in the NW. You might want to look on www.groups.yahoo.com and do a search for bandsters or lap-band - there are quite a few very active groups.
Have you made it to any local support groups? It's a great idea to go and meet folks who have been living with their surgery for a few years.
I was slated for Lap Band, myself for a time, but instead ended up choosing to have the DS. I'm really thankful for the surgery I had, but I can totally relate to not being able to find a ton of information out there. Seemed like I could only find stuff on RNY when I first started researching.
Let me give you a few links that may prove to be helpful as you research:

I'm biased - I love my DS! I love the quality of life I enjoy, I love the fact that I've lost 210 pounds effortlessly, I love the restored health that I have. So, keep my bias in mind! LOL!
I had my surgery with Dr. Aniceto Baltasar in Alcoy, Spain just over 3 years ago. (My husband also had surgery with Dr. Baltasar just over 1 year ago, as well.) It was the best decision I think I've ever made in my life. I thank God daily for leading me to Dr. B - he's the coolest, an incredibly gifted surgeon, an artist with the DS, and a wonderful friend.
Please - let me know if I can answer any questions, okay?
Best of luck to you as you pursue WLS!
Blessings,
dina
Hi Tami,
Ok ignor my Photo showing my neice and I were both in the pants I use to wear and we were laughing but they only used my head and so now I look really funny.I wasnt going to post until they corrected my photo but I wanted to get back with you. I had the band placed a year ago and love it ! I've gone from a size 20-22 to an 8-10. I've had no problems and feel great- I was self pay and went down the coast to have surgery as it was a $10,000 savings from the Portland Dr.'s. I've had great care and the surgery was a breeze. Here is my dr.'s web site :
