how long before you got a date

I have an insurance that will pay for surgery. the only requirement is you have to have a bmi over 40. How long before any of you that had Dr. Devaney (sp) got your surgery date. I am not in a big hurry. I wanted to have it done maybe late spring or early summer. I want to enjoy my last Christmas with the goodies.

I guess it really depends on your insurance company. I started this process with my orientation in July of this year. then it was visits to the dietition, physical therapist, sleep study, Visit with ARNP through the Obesity Institute in Portland Oregon. I had to have all these visits before my visit with the surgeon. Then I had a pre-op class. I had my consultation with Dr. Jay Jan on the 19th of Sept. I was recently denied but am still battling. Once I have my pre-auth I will have my date. Make sure that you contact your insurance and get in writting the requirments. I think that is your most important key! Good luck on your journey

Hi there! I don't have Dr. Deveney, but I used to work with him at the VA hospital and I think he is an excellent doctor. If you have no insurance problems you can usually be scheduled within 2-3 months of starting your pre-op stuff. What drags on for most people is the insurance approval. Good luck!

Hello Grace It took about about 3 weeks after aprovel to get a date , Which was 5 to 6 weeks out ! I have Dr Devenoy also ! Best of luck to you ! Hugs Twi
