Support Groups?

Hi everyone, I recently moved back to Portland, OR from St. Louis, MO. I am now 1 year out post op, but still need support to keep me in line. Are there any local support groups to attend? Any information would be appriciated! Chrissy 283/155/135?

I'd like to find one too. There isn't much action here in the Portland area compared to , say, Calif. Jer

Hello, I know for Kasier patients, they have many support groups each month. I dont know if you must be a member or not. I go the 4th saturday of the month up on Sunnyside! Sarah

Hi Peg! Guess what? There is a support group this Wednesday night from 7 - 8:30 in Beaverton! I have only been once, but they seem to be a great group of people. The address is... Beaverton Community Center 12350 Southwest 5th Street Beaverton, OR 97005 I know that they meet for dinner before the meeting, but I'm not sure where it will be this month... possibly Chili's. Hi Joy. Thanks for the information. I think might try attending sometime. However, I am still recovering from surgery August 12th that removed the rest of my stomach, spleen, and part of my pancreas. Hi Chrissy. I just remembered another group that meets in the area and also has a website. It is located at http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Northwest-OSSG/ Joy reminded me that they have a support group in Beaverton. I believe there is also one that meets I think at OHSU. You have to be a member of the Northwest-OSSG to get information, so you can sign up on their web location and then have access to their calendar of events. They also have a messageboard where you can write and respond to others. Good luck. I hope our paths cross sometime. Peg

Look up Dr. Emma Patterson. She runs a large support group at the hospital on 21st street. I visited it a while back but dont have the schedule any more. Welcome to the area ! Gail
