I DID IT!

The Carb Countdown can be found in almost any grocery store. I know they have it in the regular milk sections of Safeway, Fred Meyer and Winco. It's in a carton and they have chocolate, plain whole, 2%, 1% and skim. It's wonderful. Has 12 grams of protein per cup and only 2 grams of carbs. If you had a 12 ounce glass of it (the size of pre-made protein drinks) it would be 18 grams of protein, which is more than the EAS shakes. It's delicious...
Hi Melody,
Glad to hear you are doing so well. Soon I will be in one of those beds! I remember from gall bladder surgery that hospital beds can be terribly uncomfortable. Glad for the warning on the Boost. If they give me some, I surely will not drink it. I really like Carb Solutions, which has 0 grams sugar and 21 grams protein to each serving. Tastes good to me now, we'll see about after surgery. AND, I get it at Safeway, which is convenient for me.
Congrats on your great start. Maybe I'll see you at a support group meeting someday, if I can't find one closer to home!
Kath
Hey ya Kath!
When is your surgery date? Are you excited?
Yeah the beds are not very comfortable and niether are the flat pillows! The Hospital tried to get me to stay another night.... all I kept thinkin' about was my bed and I just couldn't stay there another night. You know, you just don't get any rest when your in the Hospital
I say that if Carb Solutions is working for you now... it will probably work for you later too. I shop at Safeway too, I think I might have to check it out and get some for when I'm on the go! I usually drink Isopure protien drinks. It's fully loaded with like 50 grams of protien. I'm only 5 days out so It feels a bit rich for my tummy right now but I'm slowly getting there... I have to water it down. They have unflavored kind too that you can sprinkle on your food to add extra protien. I put some in my Jello
Keep us update on your progress and the best of health to you! Yeah, maybe I'll c-u-around!

Melody,
I'm very glad to hear that things went well and you are home. I was given Boost in the hospital and tolerated it O.K. When I got home I started using the Boost HP (high protein) and remember it being my mainstay that first two weeks. Sorry it didn't do you any favors. If the sugar is that high then they shouldn't give it to new post-ops, because nobody needs trouble right off the bat!
You got off to a good start doing such a good job with your pre-op diet. I amazed myself with how compliant I became (after years of not doing so good at it). The good thing is that the behavior gets positively re-enforced each and every day post-op - both with weight coming off and the way you feel physically. It starts to get pretty easy to be "good".
You and Jeremiah need to keep us posted. By the way, I love your picture. I like the ocean and your bandanna. You look like such a nice girl!
Patty
Dearest Patty,
I completely concur with you about our behaviors becoming positively re-enforced each and everyday.... by either losing poundage or being able to wear something smaller or perhaps someone giving you a kind compliment. It makes you feel so good to achieve what you once only dreamed of and makes you even more eager to reach your goal! I am looking straight ahead and ready to enjoy my life for once!
Yeah, I haven't heard anything from Jeremiah since the Hospital... I'm praying that he is doing well.
Thank you for the compliments too. The picture was taken last May in Utah. What you see in the background is Utah Lake. We took a vacation there on our Harley to visit his parents. Boy, that was a verrrrry long road trip! But it was fun! Take care.

Sorry it's been so long for me to respond, but CONGRATULATIONS on your successful surgery. You will be skinny in no time, girl!
As for the Boost, what kind of morons do they have administering that stuff? That crap is freaking loaded with sugar. May as well have a milkshake, IMO. Try any of the protein/low carb shakes and you'll be fine. Unjury is a favorite - it does taste quite yummy. If you like chocolate milk, try the Carb Countdown milk. It's got more protein in it than the EAS Advant EDGE shakes and tastes luscious. You can find it at most grocery stores. The regular low-carb milk is good too and you can make it into SF pudding for a great treat. In fact, I took the SF fudge pudding and put in a scoop of chocolate Unjury and used the Carb Countdown Chocolate milk to make it and it was incredible. It was fluffy and mousse-y and very satisfying.
Let me know if you need more ideas. I have a ton of them! Oh - one of my early on favorites is to take 2 TBSP of peanut butter, a few packets of Spenda, and mix it with an 8 oz tub of FF Philly cream cheese spread. It is VERY high in protein. I spread it on the Corn thins corn cakes (like super thin rice cakes) and it makes a wonderful lunch. You could put it on any thin crispy thing.
Enjoy the ride - it will be a quick one!!!
