how does everybody deal with the protein drinks and food. The stuff is awful! It makes me nauseaous just thinking about drinking them. What do the rest of you eat the 1st 4 weeks after surgery? Jerry

2 suggestions: 1) Protidiet is the best protein drink I've found. It tastes GREAT. It is a gelatin protein and doesn't have the gaggy taste the others do. It is akin to when you drink hot jello but you drink this cold. I get it from Coastal Physical Therapy in Brookings. I get drop shipments of it. 2) Carb Countdown chocolate milk. It is very rich and yummy. Tastes like a very high quality chocolate milk. I like it better than regular chocolate milk. It has 12 grams of protein per 8 ounce serving. You can also use the regular Carb Countdown milk and make oatmeal with it which will give you some great protein. You can also use it to make sugar free pudding, and if you add a scoop of plain or chocolate Unjury (which is another great protein but it is whey), you have a very high protein treat. Good luck - hope you find something you like! Dina

Jerry: I use Nectar. I get it from Vitalady.com or bariatriceating.com. I do understand there is a health food store in Tigard (I think) who carries it, but I don't know the name of the store. Anyway, I buy Fuzzy Navel (tastes like orange juice to me) and kiwi-strawberry and mix it. Then I add a scoop of that (34 grams or protein) and a cup of water and add a lot of ice. I have that every morning for breakfast and I love it. Everyone's taste is different, that is just my preference. Good luck finding something that works for you. Pam

I just had a really really hard time getting down the whey proteins - even when they were disguised as a fruity drink. I tried the fuzzy navel and just gagged on it. I know a LOT of people who love it though. Guess I just have a strong aversion to the whey proteins since surgery... Dina

You sound like me. I am gagging on everything. I am trying to eat/drink the protien drinks and whey, but aaauuugghh!! I haven't found anything I like, maybe cottage cheese and tomato juice mixed...how sick sounding is that? But I am losing weight...can't argue with success I suppose.
