Hiya everyone. I haven't been around much, cause I have been sick big time with morning sickness. The WL is going slow, only about 30lbs in 7 weeks lost. The pregnancy is doing fine, other than throwing up ALL THE TIME. The surgeon and high risk OB tell me not too worry too much about nutrition the first trimester, but to just try to stay hydrated, which isn't ALL that easy. I am 10 weeks along now and the baby has a strong heartbeat and we already have our first pictures! The fact that I ended up being pregnant during surgery doesn't seem to play much of a risk at all, so that is a big relief. Once the second trimester comes along my weightloss will get even slower, but I am expected to still keep loosing. Anyway, thankx everyone for all the wonderful support and emails, it's been sooooo comforting! Brandi

Brandi - You sound like you are doing otherwise wonderful! I am happy to hear that the baby is doing fine and that you are still losing even if slowly! It took me 3 months and a day to lose 50 lbs, so you are running close to what my rate of loss was. I had stalled with a 17 lb loss from week 2 to 5. Sounds like you are doing well not concentrating on the numbers though. But just remember that you get a double whammy out of this. You get to lose weight while pregnant, and then when you have that little darling baby you will lose all that baby weight REALLY QUICKLY! Ahhhhh, makes me want to get pregnant! Of course, I want to anyway....just have to convince DH of that!!! Dina

Hi Brandi, Don't know if you recall chatting with me or not, but I always check in every few months and like everyone want to see how things are going...Congrats on the baby and I am so happy you finally got your surgery. We share the same Dr. and I know what you mean about never seeign her. I never even saw her because of her babies after my surgery until about my 6th month post-op, they had me see every other Dr. there I was quite frustrated. And I always end up waiting...but other then that I am happy with the results and after your baby is born you will be as well....take care, if you have any questions feel free to email me.... Hugs, Nadine

Great to hear you and baby are O.K. Two of the biggest life changes happening at once. WOW! You seem like a roll with the punches kind of a girl, and have a sense of humor. That one will help you a lot! I would guess that if you weren't pregnant you would be showing the "average" amount lost. 30 lbs in 7 weeks would be a great start under normal cir****tance. I bet the actual fat loss is way more, because even in the early months when baby is teeny, your body is building up so much fluid and tissue amounts that weigh quite a bit. Just the placenta and ambiotic fluid account for weight gain. Yep you may not lose much in the next months, but in reality you probably really are losing it. You have all the plumbing in place to be able to have your weight loss go into high gear once the baby is born. Wonderful news that you two are doing so good. Patty
