If you are from Oregon
Please flag your post as important and put OR: before the title of your post. I am getting so annoyed with all the junk they are putting on the board here and when I do finally have the time to come looking in here I have to weed through 12,000 announcements, notices and other junk that I don't care about.
Maybe I need to quit trying to come here - it just makes me moody as hell. I look at it as no better than spam...
Dina
Well, they put announcements at the very top that are not things I consider imperative to have there 24/7 for months on end. Then we have the Quote of the day and people come in from all over asking for us to vote for their Jones soda labels and to go do this that and the other for folks all over the country. We have more posts for junk outside of Oregon than we do for just those of us chatting here. I don't see these posts on my other message boards - just the state ones. It is getting way beyond annoying because I have to pick through all the crap to get to the posts from real people from Oregon (and those who live in outlying areas who want to talk to those from Oregon) who want to get to know each other and communicate with each other.
I really dislike it when someone comes on here and does a drive-by posting. If you don't have an interest in getting to know the folks on this board and you don't want to respond to emails people may send you regarding the drive-by post you did, then don't post here. I don't care about your soda labels anymore. Once it is cute. More than that, forget it. It's just spam.
I'm sick and tired of weeding through all this junk to find out what REAL people from Oregon and outlying areas are up to and where they are in their journey! This isn't about voting for someone or getting inspiration from someone who will never come on here to read posts by others here and/or respond to them. The board has become junked up and my one email to OH about it was met with a polite "we'll do what we want so you can just suck it up" email.
Dear Dinka Doo,
I am new to the Oregon Message Board, I am from Oregon. I am sure that it is hard to get through all the "spam" on the board, and I hope it clears up for you. Please do not stop talking to us however, we all need you and count on those of you who have been through the WLS. I greatly appreciate the assistance I have received from so many already..and I am pre-op! I respect your right to go somewhere else, I just hope you don't leave your fellow Oregonians. Lots of hugs from an Oregon friend. Don'tcha wish ya could just hit somebody?!!
I've been thinking the same thing off and on for a few weeks!
Perhaps we should make a post "take us off the list". Have everyone who wants the garbage to be removed reply to it so they're added to the list and then send that info to OH. Maybe they'll be more inclined to respond positively if there is a large group of us.
Michele
I had noticed the same thing. It seems like it those "spam" message started showing up a few months ago. I'm such a whimp on how to operate my computer that I just figured it was only on my screen and was living with it.
Our router or some such thing went out and then my son decided to switch the server so I've had no computer for over a week. I found out that it has become a big part of my daily life, because I felt really disconnected! The real problem will be when he goes off to college in two years. None of the rest of us (our family) know how to do anything. We DEPEND on him. My problem is that I don't want to know, I just want him to make all work. He spent the night somewhere this weekend and my husband and I were so lame trying to watch a DVD. If it depended on my the VCR would blink midnight forever.
Please don't boycott our Oregeon board. I would just miss you too bad. Did you get my E-mail last month regarding plastic surgery? I sent it through the icon on your profile page that says E-mail me. I hope it didn't end up lost in cyberspace.
Patty
Oh Patty - if I were closer I'd come monkey with your 'puter, but it's a little too far to go! Just make friends with someone at church or similiar who knows about computers!
As for the email, I don't think I got it. If I did, I would have answered it I'm pretty sure! You can email me direct at [email protected] if you like.
