I have Kaiser Permanente insurance through my husbands employer, and he has 100% coverage. Does anybody know how long it takes from the start of process before one gets approved for the WLS? Approximately? Peggy

ive heard kaiser is tricky and they have a lot of hoops. they make you diet and loose weight before they will give you an appoitment and they are very strict with their guidlines. call them asap because it might take you a while to get approved.

Hi Peggy, I had my surgery in feb of 04 and it took me a year to get through their program. That is about the norm. Some times it is longer if you dont follow the guidelines and you gain weight. It was worth the wait. i know they are trying to strem line the program now. Go see your pc and get a referral to the obesity program. Good Luck! Sarah 2-16-04 -201

HI PEGGY! I also have Kaiser (switched from blue cross...they made me cross for not paying for anything, arghhh!) and attend the support group monthly in Salem, Or. We have had a few move through in as little as 10 months, however, the average (depending on your readiness to do as Kaiser says pre-op) is 18 months! I am a pre-op who attended the group info meeting April 20th, so I guess I am on the road! Just do the work, because it will help so much after surgery!!
