I have been approved for surgery!
Finally! Oh, wait.... there's good news and bad news! I saw the head of the bariatric department today. She told me that I don't need to lose the 10% and she was putting me on the fast track for surgery, because I am doing so well with the program. She is also putting me on a cancellation list for surgery, so that I might get it sooner.
Okay, that's the good news. Now, for the rest of the story!!!
She said I could see a surgeon in two weeks. Well, when the assistant tried to make an appointment for me with ANY surgeon, the soonest I could get in is July 17th, just to see him. ARRRGHHHH!!!
I am trying to hurry things along, so my husband and I can put the house up for sale and move to Oregon!!!!!
So.... I am going to call the surgeon's office every week to check for cancellations. If I bug them enough, maybe they will grant me my wish!
PLEASE everyone!!!! Keep good thoughts for me.
Thanks!

Hi Joy,
So glad to hear of your progress. It can be a long road, but well worth it. I am glad we are getting you up in our beautiful green state! I moved here ten years ago from the Bay Area, and have never looked back. I go back to visit and get my burrito fix, but am always glad to get back home (as in Oregon). Welcome to our local WLS community.
I hope that you get your surgery before you move up here. If one ever gets in a fast track at Kaiser...stay there. The bariatric program is a long process at Kaiser, and if you are to the point of getting a date - I hope you get it soon! Perhaps the transfer of information would ensure you an equal spot up here, but it isn't anything I would assume. I languished for two years in the Kaiser program up here and never did get a date. I know others have been able to get through and have their surgery, but I also know others besides me, that were perfectly good candidates and never got through.
Good luck to you. I think your on target to bug them and get yourself in.
Patty
Hi Patty!
I just looked at your profile. My goodness! You look wonderful! You look about 20 years younger. I imagine you might feel that way, too!
I am going to have surgery here in California. When we move to Oregon, my husband will be retired and we won't have the group insurance any more. Being that we will have individual, we would have a rather large co-pay. So.... we wait. If everything takes as long as possible, I will have surgery in late July, or early August. But, we really want to move soon. That's why I'm pushing the process.
You live in a beautiful spot! Best wishes on your journey!
Joy
Thanks, Patty!
We just returned from Oregon and bought a perfect little house for our retirement in Tualatin! We are hoping that I will have surgerybefore escrow is finished. Plus, the sellers would like to stay a while longer, which is perfect for us.
Yes, I will bug everyone until I have my surgery. I look forward to be an Oregonian!
Joy
Congradulations, Joy, I know no easy feat going thru the Kaiser regime - I'm 10 days till surgery and counting. I can say, though, this last month of waiting is flying by. Your turn will be here soon - time to start praying to the Kaiser Gods!
Did you get up here and look things over as to where you plan on living? Keep us posted -
Take, care,
Anne
