Hi everyone! Newbie here!

I just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. I have lurked and used this site for research for over a year when I decided I wanted WLS. After switching insurance companies I attended a meeting in February for the Legacy Obesity Program. Me, being the procrastinator waited until last week to send in the forms! It was only after a recent hospital stay and realizing how bad I felt that I knew I needed to get going on this. I got a phone call today saying I was approved! Less than a week.......how awesome is that! I have my first appointment on friday for my lab work and psych testing and probably a couple other tests. Next appointment is May 10 for the nutritioner, PT and NP. I will also need a sleep study but don't have that appointment yet. I am so excited! I plan on being around much more since I know now this is reality. I also started Atkins on sunday, wanting to lose some before surgery and learn how to eat better before too. Welcome, I am working with Dr. Patterson, currently waiting for ins. approval. When you say you were approved, was that insurance approval or were you just approved to join the program. They made me go through all the hoops (tests, sleep study, ect) before even applying for approval with the insurance program. I am still waiting for approval, then I get my date. anyway, keep us posted and if you have any questions, please let me know or post them here. Everyone on the board is AWESOME. Brandi

Hi Brandi! I think we know each other..........I think we were in the same A&P class 121 or whatever at cascade last year. I don't have a picture up yet but hopefully soon, I'm sure you would recognize me. My insurance is approved, even for the surgery. My insurance covers in as long as it's medically necessary but they will only cover the RNY which is fine because that is what I want. The only thing I have to pay are my copayments and for the nutritionist which they don't cover. I have my first round of tests (lab and psych) tomorrow. The sleep study next week and the second round on the 10th of May. I can't believe how fast this is all going........maybe I will have surgery by summer! How close are you to approval? Maybe we will run into each other there or if you ever want to get together just let me know! It would be nice to have someone close by who knows what I'm going through. I've finally started telling people that I'm going to have it done and most of my results have been positive, some not but it's my decision not theres, they aren't the one who is overweight.
