Help! I was denied last July because I didn't have 12 months of dieting experience, physician supervised and physician documented. Good grief! I have been talking to my doctors for fifteen years about my weight, but all they do is counsel me to loose. I have done diet programs while being a patient, but not physician prescribed. I need a letter from a doc saying I have 12 months of diet experience. Any ideas?

I can feel your pain, but does the insurance want 12 months or 6 months within a 12 month period? It makes a difference. For my experience my insurance said the same thing. I set up monthly appointments where the doctor documented any new ailments and weight. She set goals and such and those conversations were also documented. I also saw a nutritionist for the first 3 months every wee****il we saw some progress, then every two weeks. She also documented my weight, diet and took copies of my food diaries for additional documentation. The insurance is trying to wear you don't but don't give up!!!! You can win!!! Also you may want to verify that this is the only thing you are missing so that at the end of the 6 or 12 months you are set to go! They are looking for recent experiences. I know this sucks but it is worth the fight! If I can helpo anymore let me know!!! Andrea
