On Friday I received a call from Dr. Hongs office stating that they have my whole packet together and they are sending my info to the next office (Dr. Hongs actual office) and I should receive a call on Monday to set a time to meet with the surgeon. I think that means I am very close to actual surgery date. Can it be??? This close?? I am excited and nervous. I was told to loose about 13 to 15 lbs before surgery so I start my "diet" this weekend and I need to start testing some protien drinks out. Is there anything else I need to start preparing for or am I being a little too premature? Did I mention that I am excited!! hee hee

Hi Dawn, I just had lap band surgery with Dr. Hong on 2/1/05. I received my call for my first visit with him in early Dec. 2004. I had to wait until 1/5/05 only because I was told the month of Dec. is hard to make a appointment in because of the holidays/office closures. The day of my visit, my surgery date was also set before I left the offfice. I could have taken 1/17/05, only 12 days later. In retrospect, I glad I didn't. I just wouldn't have been prepared at home or my business. The timing worked out great for myself, my husband and our kids schedules. I only started this process in July 2004 and I'm now pleased that surgery didn't happen any sooner. I had enough time to prepare physically and mentally. As soon as my husband and I made the decision for my WLS, we started making changes. NO SOFT DRINKS in our house, low carb menus for everyone(Carbs are everywhere anyway!) and exercising. I was back on my treadmill only 48 hours after surgery. I'm really glad I started that routine a couple months ago. We have also tried many protein drinks and have narrowed it down to just a few that we really like. There are at least a couple other people here in the Eugene/Springfield area that would be a great source of info and support for you if you are interested. Best wishes......being only 13 days out, I can tell you waiting is the hardest part! ~Della

Hi Dawn, I also had surgery with Dr. Hong (lap RNY) and will be 4 weeks out tomorrow. He is very knowledgeable and any time I've had any issues or questions--both pre and post-op, he's either come to the phone or called me back almost immediately. congratulations on your decision and I hope when we get our support group up and coming that you will join us! Hugs, Stephanie

I am about a week or two behind you! So congrats! I was told I would get my call 2 days after my last apt with the dietician, phys. therapist, and physcologist, which is all next thursday the 24th. So the Monday after that I will get the call from Dr. Hongs office to schedule the consult, we could be bariatric buddies! Good luck!! Brandi
