I DID IT !!!
Yeah for you!
I am glad to hear everything went so well for you.
Like everyone else is telling you...get rest and protein!
Some ideas for protein:
eggs...make sure they're not dry you might be bothered by them
refried beans w/cheese....my lifesaver!
mashed potatoes w/lots of cheese (instant or homemade)...a friend of mine told me about this
cottage cheese
popsicles are great early on, when it's hard to just sip water all day
Best of luck to you!
Michele
Hi everyone,
I'm new here but have enjoyed reading everyone's posts. I just started mushy foods last night and am so grateful for tuna and egg salad. I did try to buy sugar free popsicles the other day, but they seem to have a lot of sugar in them already. I'm afraid I will have 'problems'. Did anyone have problems with them at first? I have not yet dumped, except last night when I had 6 crackers with tuna on them...it was minor but it did not feel good. But I have been surviving on cottage cheese for 1 week now and felt like I was starving...they looked and tasted so good! Today I only had 4 and felt much better. I am getting ready to try some crystal light because I can't seem to get enough water in. My doctor wants me to stop drinking water 30 minutes before I eat and 90 minutes after I eat, but I am finding that very, very difficult. I am drinking a protein drink that tastes a little like gatorade. It's called Precision Protein. But it has almost a plastic taste to it and I am already starting to get sick of it. I have found if I freeze it and then eat it like a popsicle it is not as bad, but then I end up eating (drinking) it too fast. Also, I have been in pain since surgery (2 weeks ago today) because I had some serious problems with my epidural. Today is the first day I've started to feel better. So I have been pretty much sedentary since surgery. Hopefully by Monday I can start to walk. I had an egg for lunch today...what a joy!
Wow, this started out as a simple question about sugar free popsicles!
Thanks for being here,
Lisa
Thank you every one for your replies. I am doing quite well, had my post op visit yesterday and Dr said I was right on schedule with weight loss. My diabetic med and my blood pressure med has been cut in half already.
I am back to water areobics 3 times a week and next week I am going to increase it to 5 times a week. I have back problems so I can't do a lot of walking.
As for the popcicles, and the sugar free fudgecicles, I can eat them, but not more than one at a time. I have a problem with cold things.
I eat a lot of applesauce with cinnamon. I also eat cooked vegies. If you are making mashed potatoes, you can always mix them up with gravey to give them more flavor. In the earlier stages, I pureed veggies, mashed potatoes and gravy together. Not bad. You will be surprised what can be pureed.
I have been drinking a lot of Botanical Ice. It comes in 4 different flavors. It is fruit flavored tea. I get mine at Costco or Winco. I like my water ice cold, so I drink a lot of other liquids. Another thing that is good for a take along if you are going out and about is string cheese.
Hope this helps.
AND I weighed in at 200 this morning. Another day or two and I will finally be under 200.....
YEAH...
Have a happy sunshining Friday.
