I need info on Dr. Patterson and her associates
Dr. Patterson did my surgery on 10-20-04 I am VERY VERY pleased with her work! She is very strict and you HAVE to do all she requires or you won't have surgery! If you are required to loose a certain amount of weight before surgery and you have one pound left she won't do surgery, she is very serious and means business with what she say's. As far as her associates go I have met with several different ones at different appt.'s and they follow the same requirments Dr. Patterson lay's down.
Not sure if this helps....if you want specific question's answered feel free to email me.
Good luck

Stephanie:
I live in Eugene and called Dr. Patterson's office for the first time today. They told me to go to an informational mtg. on Feb. 2nd in Portland.
I'm wondering about everything. I live in Eugene. Dr. Patterson is out on maternity leave and won't be bac****il May 2005.
I'm wondering how long the entire process took you? From your first call until your surgery.
Since my doctor wanted me to find a surgeon in Portland, I can't help but wonder how hard all of this will be since I live in Eugene?
I am 49 yrs. old with a bmi of 42.5
You?
Any questions you can answer for me will be appreciated.
Thanks, rose
Hi,
I live in Eugene, also, and am scheduled for lap band surgery with Dr. Hong on 2/1/05. My husband and I attended the informational meeting the end of July 2004 led by Dr. Hong and we started the application process the next day. I finished all the required testing within 6 weeks and finished with my two sleep studies by 10/22/04. All my testing, other than the pscy. eval. & dietician, was handled by my PCP here in Eugene who compiled all my info. and had it submitted to the Oregon Clinic by the first week of Dec. Dr. Hong's staff called me within one day of receiving my info. and scheduled my visit for 1/5/05, since there were not any times in Dec. for new patients to be seen. Since Dr. Patterson is on maternity leave, Dr. Hong is my only option. Both my husband and I feel very comfortable with him. I've only heard high praise for anyone associated with the Oregon Clinic. Since I am self paying, I am not waiting for any kind of approval for insurance and actually could have had surgery this past Monday(1/17/05). Dr. Hong suggested that I schedule the next available slot when I would be the first patient of the day, that way I should be able to return to Eugene by that evening. Provided no complications, I'll be sleeping in my own bed that night!
I have made 2 trips to Portland for support group meetings and plan to continue to do that. I've been told that I can schedule any Dr. appts. I might need and attend the support group meeting the same day in the future. We make frequent trips to Portland anyway and I have a list of volunteers who would like to go with me also if I need someone to ride along with me. I know of one other person in Eugene who is considering the surgery and we've talked about carpooling up for support meetings.
Although I have kids, am a homeschooling mom and have a business to run, I haven't found it to be real difficult to get to these appointments. I think part of it is my desire to have this surgery and to have a successful outcome. I also have a very supportive husband, who is 100% behind me. Beside that, I don't think there are too many options for those of us living in Eugene.
I hope this helps. Best wishes whatever you decide to do.

Della,
Thank you for your input.
How many trips to Portland am I looking at? I'm just trying to get it all squared away because I need to know how much work I will miss....
Also, how much recovery time?
I'm hoping to have surgery in early summer as I have summers off.
Thanks again, and good luck.
Stephanie (at this site) was very helpful too. She actually had her surgery on the date that you ALMOST had it **** 05). YOU may want to contact her for further information.
Good Luck!
