My Dr appt.

Hi again everyone! I hope you're all doing well today. I wanted to let you know how my Dr. appt went. My Dr was supportive of me getting weight loss surgery. She said that my BMI of 40 does qualify me, but most ins want you to have at least 2 or 3 other deadly health problems related to weight. She was going down the list and trying to figure out what else would qualify me. She said I have had high blood pressure my last couple visits. I am going in for a sleep test, because we think I might have sleep apnea because of some of my symptoms. She said I might have to do some kind of diet program where I check in with her for a few months. I told her that I have done that in the past. She has prescribed meridia and phentermine for weight loss in the past. I also told her when I was on Atkins. She said that might work since she has it all recorded, but it depends on the ins company. She said she doesn't know what my ins company requires. Oh, a new thing, might be indigestion/heartburn. She gave me meds for that today to try out. I told her how flat out lousy I feel everyday and I'm sick of it. I did have a slight temp of 100 today, blood pressure was high again, and my oxygen level was a little low. Anyways, I'm going to call and make an appt with the sleep specialist and the Dr said we'll go from there. I forgot to tell her I've been seeing spots lately too. P.S. My hubby asked what the Dr said and I told him that she said I'm a good candidate. He told me that I'm NOT having surgery. I said "whatever" and I left it at that. I guess I will be going on an adventure without his support. At least my family and friends will be there for me. Maybe he will be there eventually. I think he's afraid that I'm going to die if I have surgery. I told him I had to get a sleep test and he said "WHAT? How much is that gonna cost?" I feel like he doesn't care how I feel. well, good luck with getting your surgery approved. what kind of insurance do you have. and, sometimes loved ones can be insensitive. sue

Good luck on your sugery ! My Dr. thought I was good canadit but My insurance had an exclusion. I understand your husbands fear. Its scary to think that something could go wrong and you'd loose a love one. Sicne i had to take out a home loan and my husband was concered about the risk of the surgery I had the Lap Band surgery and I love it. It was quick and easy. Thanks for the reply! Congrats on your surgery. I dont know what I'm going to do, because my insurance doesn't cover it and my hubby is against it. So, if I dont have him to help me get a loan, I think I'm stuck in a hard place. I just have to have hope that whatever is best will work out. Its so nice to have this website to go to.
