Back from Vacation
Hi all:
I spent two weeks in Hawaii and just returned Sunday night. I tried to catch up on the posts, but didn't quite make it.
Had a wonderful time in the islands. It was my first vacation since my August 24 surgery. I had a few "issues" but I think I did okay. I lost 7 pounds! I've never lost weight on vacation. I learned a few important lessons. First of all, I CAN'T eat clam chowder. Everytime I did, I got sick. I can't eat tuna with mayo--forget it. I admit a ate a few things I shouldn't have, but mostly I was very good. The worst thing I ate was a few Maui Potato Chips--those things are deadly. At least I didn't get addicted! Still can't eat chicken--makes me way too sick.
We had a condo the first week so it was easy for me to be very careful. I made little individualized packages of protein power and took a pitcher with me so I could make Crystal Lite to help me with my water/liquids. Then I got worried that the airport inspectors would think those little "baggies" were drugs or something and I said to my husband--oh my gosh, what if they think we're taking drugs on board or something. So, I made a little note that said "I'm a gastric bypass patient, this is protein powder." Surely that isn't something a drug dealer would come up with!
Tomorrow is my three month check up (a week early because of Thanksgiving). I am curious to see how my blood tests come out, especially my HA1c. Still on 20 mgs of one diabetes medicine--but the positive side of that is I'm not on 40 mgs of that same medicine, I'm off two other diabetes medicines and my blood pressure medicine. Also, I'm down a total of 46 pounds so I'm a happy woman.
Nice to be be back and reading all the posts. I really miss this board when I don't have the time to read it and see how everyone is doing.
