I have been looking at this site for almost a year, just found the Oregon state site. I have been trying to learn about the best surgery. I am interested in the ds at OHSU. My husband has insurance at job that covers surgey for obesity. I go to OHSU on October 25th, 2004 for the iformation seminar that is required for me and husband. If anyone has any good pointers for the process at OHSU, please feel free to let me know.

I had my surgery at OHSU and think very highly of the people there. I had Dr. C. Deveney do the surgery and had the occasion to be followed by Dr. O'Rourke as well. Both are excellent. Since I had a complicated revision of an old WLS from 1986, I particularly appreciate Dr. Deveny's technical skill as a transplant surgeon. He has been rated as one of the best general surgeons in the state. Nice, too. This is a teaching hospital, so you have to get used to the medical students and that may, at times, be annoying. But, they have to learn, right? The nursing staff on 14 are superb. And the view is terrific, too! Don't expect too much in the way of program or hand holding. They are working on it they tell me. But then, this was a life saving surgery for me, literally and the technical skill was of highest priority. peace, tee
