UPDATE...
Hi. I wanted to update real quick. I had my drain removed yesterday, it was very uncomfortable to have that in. It was rubbing on my peritinium. ( inside of my stomach ) I am not that great of a speller. So, I got that out, got weighed and from friday the 17th my first post -op day (4 ) I had lost 8lbs. I was happy... I am still sore on the drain side but it gets better with each day. I just got to remember to let people wait on me and not visa-versa. My hubby will catch me doing something he considers too much and makes me feel like a baby. bawling me out. ( UGH!!! ) Anyways.... I will keep you all up to date. I have found that mixing egg whites with my Key Lime Yougurt makes it taste like merangue pie. Not to bad. The egg powder is the only way I can get the protein in everyday. And it is still not quite the 50 grams....
Tracy....
Hi Tracy! It sounds like so far so good for you! Congrats!!
Drain?? Okay, fill me in....... I have surgery on 10/12 - getting nervous!
You get to eat yogurt so soon? That's good. I thought it was liquids for weeks - or is that considered a liquid? Sorry for the questions.
Definately let them wait on you - it will change soon enough!!
Take care.
Rachella
Yes, I am getting to eat yogurt, I cannot seem to drink the shakes enough to get the protein so I just decided to go ahead and eat the yogurt with egg white protein and have been doing great. I think it works better in the acidic yogurts better, like lemon and lime, it breaks the whites down easier. That is my personal opinion. I made some chicken broth with a scosh of soy sauce and then put some beat up egg in it, kinda like egg flower soup but missing the solids, that went down well.
Are you going to Tersigni? Call the office and ask Robin or Mindie to send you out the blue form that you get at dietcian meeting ( where Robin talks to you about what you can eat and all that you will need to know if you don't know it already ) It tells you what you can have in the first 4 weeks and then what you can move into with in the weeks following. I found the most protein in a yogurt you could buy and then went from there.
The drain is put in to keep the fluids that may still be in your stomach area draining out and not pooling. I guess... That is what I summized, then again it sounds logical. I am sure they told me, but that was many morphine shots ago.
I wasn't nervous too til the days coming up to the surgery then I was apprehensive. Even laying there getting my I.V. in I was wondering if I shouldn't "STOP the PRESSES" I am so glad I didn't. After surgery I was like what the hell.... Now I am going ok, this is alright. Just look forward to the future and take little steps, because big strides are days away....
