'puter probs
Sorry peps, haven't been around much, the computer died last week and it's been heck on us all, should be up in another week. Had a visit with the OBGYN about PCOS, I have to have an ultrasound next wed. The whole thing has left me majorly depressed, LOL! But I am trying to keep up the positive 'tude. Ya know? I wanted to make it yesterday if ya all were going out, but after the stressfull appointment I had, I just sat at home and watched movies and chilled, and bathed in self-pity, LOL! Anyway, I am here, I am alive.

Hi brandi,
man that sucks your having a rough time right now..
you should have gone out with us though.. just the thing to get ya out of a self pitty party..
no sadness around us.. we simply don't except it and wouldn't let ya.. we'd had you laughing and singing in no time.
so what is it about PCOS that has you so depressed?
I have it and my 16yr old daughter has it too..
she was pretty much DX'd with it when she started her very first period.. I thought the girl was having an apendicitis attack.. the only thing that kept me from running her to the ER was that she wasn't running a fever. I made her an appt. with the OBGYN the following week and they did ultrasound on her and found 3 large cysts on one of her ovarys.. they put her on Birth control (hormones) pills and it shrunk them down after a few months.. how uncomfortable is that to put your 13 yr old baby girl on B/C pills... she hasn't taken them now for over a year..
I was DX'd with it from a clinical assessement and not tests.. I am insulin resistant (hmmm or was?), my wierd skin disease, also dark skin patches w/skin tags, hair growth on my chin since the age of 23, my weight distribution (apple.. or was) painfull heavy periods.. and I can't remember what else. infertility or difficulty getting PG was NOT an issue for me although it is for some.. and I didn't understand the weight distribution part of it as my daughter IS NOT an apple.. she is a pear... (bottom heavy) so for me they put me on B/C pills along with metaformin (insulin) I have been off all that since WLS..
I'm sure I still have it as it's not a disease that is "cured"... but it's controlled with wieghtloss at this point as I am not needing to take anything for it.. I still have heavy periods.. not painful though, and I still have a freaken beard. I probably am still insulin resistant and my ongoing battle with carbs is never going to end.. but it's not cuasing any major probs that I am aware of..
hang in there!!
give me a call this week..

Another "cyster" here. Sorry to hear you are going through this, but it's not something that is a death sentence. It just means that one thing affects the other which affects the other, and basically wls and watching carbs is the first domino in that equation that will keep the others from falling. Some are so bad off that they have to still using metformin (aka Glucophage) even though they lose weight, but even the hard core cases can bring pleasant surprises. Like my friend Kim who is really really bad with the PCOS. She now has a 1 yr old daughter after years of trying. I also had been married for 7 years before we got pregnant with Mason, but only 15 months of trying (shouldn't say "only"). Once I found out what the problem was and how to fix it, I followed Atkins and too Glucophage and that helped me get pregnant. Well, my DH had a little something to do with that too though!
Let us know if you have questions or want to vent off.

Hey Brandi!
Here's my new motto:
"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving
safely in an attractive and well -preserved body, but rather to skid in
sideways, champagne in one hand - strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO - What a Ride!"
Hope this at least made you smile!
