literally.. and this is my fault.. I am trying to sleep on my couch.. propped up by pillows.. and it is sort of working .. I just can't get enough sleep.. it is my fault cause I was offered a recliner by a new friend in Portland (I think).. but right about the same time some one offered me a chair/outomon.. I live in Eugene and as sweet I thought the offer was I did not want to put them through all the trouble of transporting that recliner down to me here in Eugene.. so I am a little tired at the moment.. the chair did not quite work.. I have a really comfy couch.. so I went to the couch instead.. and it is not quite there.. oh How aI wish I could sleep in my bed.. the recliner is what is recommended by my doctor to sleep in for a couple of weeks so all you preops I would recommend getting a recliner so that after your operation you can get some sleep

Renee - Call up the rent-a-center and rent one for a month! They will deliver it to your door, no hassle. I think it would be about $30 or so a month...but money very well spent! Wishing lots of rest and energy!!1 Dina

I think it is a wonderful idea to rent one .. but I do not have any money.. the say that necessity is the mother of invention.. hence the propped up on pillows thing.. I cannot wait until I can sleep in a real bed again.. thanks every one for your love and support.. it is great to have

Renee- I hope you get some sleep soon! Also, if you lack energy after you are getting enough sleep, try switching to a different brand of protein shakes. I know the Atkins (pre-made in the cans) worked best for me. Good Luck Tammy

Oh yeah I had to buy a recliner right before my surgery and I bought 2 of them--nice big--comfy and I did use them to sleep in--but I also found my bed very comfy with enough pillows and not too much movement--do you have enough pillows? Good luck to you!! Your in my thoughts! Oh and by the way--my recliners are really too big for me now and I love that about them!! lol And I think Dina is right--call a rent a center!! You need your rest to heal!

I did the same as Sheri....I slept in bed with big pillows so I was really propped up. Another option is to have a friend pick up one of those "reading in bed" pillows...the kind w/the arm rests? I had 4 broken ribs several years ago and couldn't lie down, it worked really well and it's inexpensive, may $10 or $12 at Bi-mart. The only thing is that I did get tired of sleeping on my back, I wanted so much to sleep my normal way! Take care and hope you get to feeling better soon! Michele

I went from spot to spot the first wee****il I could sleep in my bed. I have ottomans with couch and chair would prop pillows around me an sleep a couple of hours in one spot then move to an office chair, then move back to the couch and finally after a few days I created a nest of pillows on the bed and would sit/lay there for a while until I could lay a bit on my side. You might check into a hospital bed, given 20/20 hindsight I wish I had rented one for a month/6 weeks as my husband had the same surgery 3 weeks before I did. But knowing my husband I would have had to rent 2 as he wouldn't vacate his and move to the bed when I had mine The companies that rent hospital beds will bill your insurance or medicare if that is what you are covered by.
