I wish I still felt that way! lol I'm back to cooking all the time--heck as a mother someone has to feed the kids and husband!! I enjoy is and I enjoy coming up with new stuff that taste good to the whole family. I have kinda fallen off the high protein wagon but need to get back on it! I say enjoy the not cooking and let someone else worry about it in the beginning--cause all too soon you have to do it for the family. Course maybe you don't have family to cook for so I say enjoy it and let the pounds come off! Once you get feeling better and enjoying eating again then the weight loss sorta tapers off--well at least for me it did....

I'm pretty much cooking all the time now....went thru the stuff I put in the freezer before surgery. I do wish I didn't have anyone to cook for...I'd probably live on cottage cheese! Michele

I wish the kids wanted to cook! At 12,13 and 14.....you'd think one of them would have an interest by now. The girls have done it a couple of times because at their ages, they don't seem to have even the slightest bit of common sense and they screw it up, lol. Believe me...if I could stay out for now, I would! Michele

Michele, I have strangely been cooking much more since surgery. I think part of it is that I have so much more energy, and I am happy. Cooking used to bring me much pleasure, but in the last couple of years it had become drugery. Strangely, I watched shows on the food network often, and find it relaxing. You know, tours of doughnut shops, New Yorks best hidden pizza spots, B.B.Q. cook-offs, that really cute guy on Food 911. It doesn't seem to provoke cravings like it would pre-op. I guess I still find myself very connected to a love of food, but am not feeling the love/hate thing I was when I struggled so. My tastes have really changed because of those early weeks of "detox" from sugar and grease. I can't eat much, but find that I really care that what I do eat has to be yummy. On the other hand there are days when I really don't care if I eat or not. Sometimes, I will cook something for dinner, and find a need to serve it up and take off to an errand. I tell my husband to be sure the dishes are cleaned up and the food put away when I get back. At those times I feel suddenly repulsed by the smells, or on the other end feel too vulnerable to the food. I find security in my "safe" meals. As long as they are being fed, they don't mind my bolting. Patty

You know, just reminded me of how much I used to watch the cooking shows.....OFTEN! I haven'****ched a single one since surgery. I haven't been eating what I cook for them much of the time...I feed them a regular meal and depending on if it sounds appealing to me, sometimes I'll eat something totally different. "As long as they are being fed, they don't mind my bolting." Aren't they wonderful? lol Take care Patty! Michele

Hi Michele, I hate to cook, but now I am able to do it more. If something sounds good, I make it and then have my hubby eat the rest, or freeze it. I got a food saver for that reason. I didnt want to cook right after either. It has taken me about 5 months to be able to cook. Hopefully, you unwillingness to cook will pass!! Good luck! sarah

I'm feeding a total of five (including 3 teens!) so I cook fairly large amounts when I cook. I try to not make leftovers, unlees it's enough for a whole meal...I hate having a "piece of this or that" in the fridge because I just don't have room. Michele

Hi Michele, My dinners consist of meat and a salad or meat and a vegetable. I gave up potatoes before my surgery, and I try to stay away from carbs (most of the time). My problem THE DISHES I don't like making a huge mess, then having to clean it up. So I keep it simple, my hubby has started loosing some weight too! I try to BBQ, or something new, and just stick a salad with it! Think Simple, I have been known to have something funny and out of the ordinary for a meal, if something constantly bothering me to eat I will and then it is gone! But it does seem to work so it's my story and I'm sticking to it! Good Luck, Catherine

If I eat from what's been made, I just eat the meat and a very small bit of veggie if I can. The SO is big on staying away from fat, but likes to have his carbs....and he fortunately doesn't have a weight problem. Can't eat salad for another month out, according to the doc...but I'm looking forward to it! Thanks for the input! Michele
