I had my surgery almost a year ago and I have only lost 70pds. I'm a real loser at this lossing stuff. I feel horrible--I have found all kinds of ways to trick myself into thinking this is ok to weigh 185 pds but it's not ok--I had this damn surgery and really thought I could weigh 150 pds but it's just not happening for me. I eat way to many carbs and I know it but I can't seem to help myself--I'm still so emotionally attached to food and I don't want that to change--well I do but I don't too--yeah I know--you can't make since out of it either.

Thank you ladies for answering my cry! I just needed a shoulder to lean on and I really thank you all! I am very happy with my weight loss in general and I think maybe I was or still am having a bad month of PMS! I do need to kick up the exercise too and I do believe that genetics are playing a role here too!! I see that lots of you have read my post and not said anything and I'm thinking it is because you are all saying buck up honey and be happy with your 70 pound weight loss, so I will be happy with it and thank you all for looking and responding!!

Sheri, You don't suck at this... When you have tried everything, diet, exercise, drugs, and resorted to surgery, its because your body structure is GENETIC. It is NOT your choice. It is Not as simple as eating too many carbs. Although, just FYI, it only takes 3 days to detox your body from starchy carbs, so if you can force yourself to suffer for that short time- you wont have the intense cravings afterwards. I had my surgery over three years ago. I lost 60 pounds (in two months), then NOTHING for 2 years. Then I worked out two hours a day, six days a week, for six months, while sticking very carefully to a low carb, low fat, no sugar, under 1000 calorie diet, and only lost another 15 pounds. That put me at a total loss of 75 pounds. But of course, no one can maintain that schedule. I simply don't have the time to work out two hours a day anymore. I am still obese. It is genetic, and it is Not my fault! I am glad I had the surgery, because it did allow me to lose enough weight to be healthier and more active. I still fight my addiction to food every day- one day at a time. I use this website to get and share support. We are here for you. Tammy

shari, I am still emotionaly attached to food as well... I still eat out of lonliness and boredom.. it sucks.. 95% of the time I am able to eat "good" things (no sugar, carb ect) but non the less I am not eating to live, I am just still eating to eat!! I know for myself I need therapy to over come this (as well as a few other issues) maybe you could look into this as another tool as well? I wish to god there was an easy answer but addictions have no easy way out!!! only tools to help *YOU* work them out.. hang in there, one day at a time, let go let god, bla bla bla... sorry I wasn't more up beat and happy but I am struggling with this too. it doesn't matter that I am 11 lbs from goal.. it's NOT good enough for "ME".. and I worry that even when I do reach goal it still will not be good enough... oh yeah, therapy is much needed!! as well as brain surgery!! Brain surgery, lol...maybe some day they will be able to do WLS on the brain instead of the stomach! Overeating, poor diet, and food addiction are All hereditary 'brain' disorders. Tam

OK...I am still new to this..but I am thinking 70 lbs is AWESOME!!! And 70 lbs is better OFF than ON! 150 sounds GREAT.....but being BELOW 200# and being healthy is MY Miracle that I am waiting for! Out of curiosity, do you excersize? Maybe ya need to keep up a regimen of 3-5 days a week. I know, I know...I HATE excersize too (along with the water!)....but now, with WLS, it is a fact of life, just like the protein and water is. And plateaus are GOOD for ya..it is your body changing your metabolisms to burn MORE fat. But I also had an emotional cling to food as well. We ALL do. Bad habits are HARD to break. Just DO NOT get discourage. Remember that this WLS is NOT to be a certain weight (although getting skinnier is a GREAT perk), but to be HEALTHIER and to be here for your family. They will appreciate you living longer just as much as YOU will! GOOD LUCK! Ashli

Hi Ashli, If you have trouble getting the water in, have you tried adding a little stevia? I can't stand the taste of water so I put a little stevia in it to sweeten it up and I can drink it all day! Also, I know this one sounds downright weird, but I swear it works for me. I put my glass of water on a 'purple plate' for a few minutes before I drink it and it improves the taste. Supposedly it reconfigures the molecular spin to a more healthful direction. All I know is that it makes things taste better. You can learn more about it by checking out their website www.purpleplates.com, or email me. Tammy

Your right Ashli and now that my period started I can tell you my little outbreak was just pms! lol Gosh the pms is sure bad for me these days--unrelated to WLS though. Thank you for your input! I know I need more exercise too. My water intake is great, but I know a lot of people have problems getting it all in. I have to buy bottles of water and keep them in the fridge but some people just don't like the taste--maybe squeeze a little lemon in your water before you drink it--that cuts some of the nasty taste for some people! =)
