New and a question

Hi, my name is Teresa and I just found this sight a week ago and was so inspired. I have Cigna insurance and was thrilled to see so many people in oregon with the same insurance who were able to get approval for WLS. My question is this: Does anyone know a good supportive primary care physician in the portland/metro area ( I live in Oregon City). My PCP believes anyone can lose weight through sheer will alone and will not help me. I am totally new to this. What would be my first step? Also, anyone get weight loss surgery approval from CIGNA without following a physician approved weight loss program for 6 months? Any help would be appreciated.

hi teresa, I have no clue about the doctors or ins. around here.. (had my surgery done 16 months ago in florida) just wanted to say hello to a neighbor.. (i'm in gladstone) there are a quite a few of us right in this general area nice to meet you and good luck in finding a doc.. Theresa (there seems to be quite a few "theresa/ teresa's on this board.. Hiya! Welcome! Be sure to check out profiles, they were my main source of info! My primary care doc is Mary Meadows in Gresham (new to her) and she has no problem supporting me at all. Also check out these docs... Dr. James Biemer 503-384-0316. He is at Providence St. Vincent's. Daniel Mangum and he is currently in Tigard. (no number) Those two docs were reccomended to me when I was on my search for a PCP. Good luck and let us know who you choose! Brandi
