Newbie!
HI everyone! My name is Jennifer, I actually live in Crescent City, CA but heck it might as well be oregon. I"m in the very begining process of WLS I have an appointment with my PCP on the 18th and then I travel down to Redwood City, CA to do the psyc, dietition, met the WLS doc. I do all that on the 25th. I think once that is done then I can have my information sent in for approval. My insurance is (from what I understand) very strick on the co-morbid part. I'm 4'11 280lbs BMI 56 so I've been trying to write all my co-morbid things down that I can think of. my blood pressure is great so is my blood work (is it sad that I was looking for somthing wrong there?) Anyways I have a letter that I have written for an example for my PCP and I am hopeing it will be good. How did things go for any of you with the insurance???
Smiles,
Jen
Hi Jen. I am new to this board as well, and to WLS as well. I have my consultation with my Dr. here in Coos Bay, Or. on the 25th. I am so excited. I don't have insurance that will even look at covering a surgery like this one, so I will be paying out of pocket. But, I look at it as investment. My family will hopfully have me around longer with this surgery. I wish you luck and welcome to the boards.
Tracy...
My insurance gave me a list of things they wanted done, luckily my Dr. had most of them done by the time they asked for them. Then they came up with a new list and I did all of those test and finally one more test and I jumped through all the hoopes and got it done.
They want you to give up through the process of all those tests, I wouldn't be intimidated and did what they asked.
Today I am a 6 mo. post op (official Looser now) and soooo happy with myself and my health. I feel 10 yrs. younger and can't wait to hit my goal (although it isn't coming as fast as I would like but it is coming none the less).
Stick with it and do everything they want, if anything you will know how healthy you are at the end.
Good Luck on your new journey.
Catherine
