My last insurance was Providence Health... they were a dead end with WLS. So I got a new job that I LOVE but employer is self-insured and so far it looks like I may have run into another brick wall as far as WLS is concerned. So I'm looking for suggestions.... I cannot afford to self pay, so I need to find ins. coverage. Anyone know of employers in or around the salem area with good ins? Ideally I would like to find a part-time, nights and weekends position with a benefits option.... Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! FYI: I have worked in customer service/office/clerical for years... so I'm pretty flexible. Thanks so much!!! -Heidi

Hiya Heidi! I have been right where your at! So I understand the hunt! I have a job now that should pay for WLS, I got the job for that reason. They are only hiring full time and you get bennies after 3mo. See my profile for a copy of their exclusion. I haven't applied for approval yet, I haven't gotten that far, but I am confident. The job pays 8hr, and is a call center, inbound. They will hire ANYbody who walks in the door because the turnover is soo high. It's worth a shot. Email me if you want more info. I can honestly say, I don't like it, bordering on HATE but it will get me what I want. You could get a late shift, or an early one, you don't even know unitl training is over, they open at 4am and close at 10pm Brandi

Are you willing to move out of the area to find a job with this kind of insurance? You will probably not find this kind of insurance if you are working part time. But full time with week ends and nights should probably work. Each company has a contract with an insurer that covers what the employer is willing to pay for. My company is self-insured using Aetna to manage the fund and we have our choice of Providence HMO or Aetna PPO for insurance. In my companies case you do get what you pay for. While we have great coverage with the HMO and it is paid for by the company for those on limited budgets, I have purchased the highest coverage offered and while I got the standard first request refusal, I was accepted and so was my husband.
