Anyone use Isopure & Bariatric Vite?
I am wondering if anyone has had luck finding the following items discounted on the internet or at local stores:
*Isopure fruit flavored protein drinks
*Bariatric Vitamins (Bariatric Vite is what my Dr. recommended)
My doctor is an Isopure distributor and it is $4 a bottle so I'd like to try and find it for a little cheaper plus my surgeons office is 2 hours away. I have found one or two places online that it is less expensive, about $2.90 a bottle. Thought I'd see if anyone out there uses this product and find out where they get it.
Also, there is a certain brand of bariatric vitamins my doctor sells, Bariatric Vite. I am wondering what others out there are taking for their daily multi-vitamins or what you've found online.
I only have 2 1/2 weeks til surgery (August 10th) so I am trying to sort all of this out now. Thanks!
Hi
I have used ISOPURE.
I have found that Nectar is soo much better and cheaper especially peach! Go to www.bariatriceating.com also they have chewable vitamins called Vista Vitamanins made just for us WLS patients. It has helped so much I wasent getting in enough protien and hair was falling .I couldent drink other protiens they tasted so bad after surgery now Im doing great 5 months post op .Owner of the site is amazing she also helps with questions and will call you at home .Her book is helpful too! good luck get some samples!!!!
Haven't tried Isopure, but I do use Unjury. I like the plain/unflavored Unjury because you can add it to so many things without tasting it. I use it in my chai latte's I make with the Carb Countdown milk and Stash chai tea bags. In 8 oz you get 32 grams of protein, and it's such a yummy treat that you can't tell from the real thing.
As for vitamins, I have gone from children's chewables to the Costco version of the Centrum Complete did okay swallowing that big ol' horse pill. I just make sure I eat something really solid before I take it so it has time to sit there. I also use the liquid sublingual B complex you can get from Walmart.
Your time is really coming up quickly - it's a great idea to get ready for all this so soon.
BTW - my friend Linda from Brookings says her Physical therapist there sells the Protidiet protein drinks. I don't know his name, but look up Linda Dale on the "Find Peers" link above and send her an email. She sent some along with me on my surgery and I have to say that after surgery when you have a hard time with whey products (they can sometimes make you nauseous), this stuff is like liquid gold. It is gelatin based and tastes very refreshing. The tropical punch is the best one and it pretty much tastes like cold Jello, but it doesn't gel up. 1 liquid packet into 5-6 oz of water packs in 15 grams of protein. Really helps for the first few weeks when other things just make you sick. They don't like you using it long term though because it doesn't have all the essential amino acids, but it's a great way to get it in while you are not able to hack anything else. I liken it to a yummy punch....absolutely NO funky aftertaste.
I tried the orange and wasn't fond of it - it tasted like orange Jello which I don't like. I haven't tried the grape, and the powdered versions like Lemonade and pineapple were too tart for me, but I know some people liked them.
Anyway, a few suggestions there to get you started. Oh - and the Unjury you can mix in with sugar free pudding and the low-carb milk (which is also high in protein) for the soft foods phase. It can really help to get it down. OH - I have too many things to say!!! One more thing - cottage cheese mixed with dry sugar free jello is a great way to get in some protein when you tired of plain cottage cheese. It's really yummy.
Hope this helps!
