finally the first thing is done
I drove to Portland.. 2 hours up and 2 hours back.. met with the nurse practitioner and the nutritionist.. it is what you have to do.. was asked what kind of surgery I wanted.. it was of course DS.. they are submitting it to the insurance.. I know my insurance Tricare Prime has paid for the DS before..
there were a few surprises.. that I was slightly anemic.. and needed to eat more protien.. and since my Sleep study about 2 months ago I have lost 21 pounds.. which is good.. I have been practicing with protien shakes..
they are trying to push to have the surgery done in August.. which is also my birthday month..
I am excited.. maybe a little scared.. but mostly excited..
Renee - that is wonderful news! It certainly feels like the ball is rolling now.
As for the anemia, try to get a handle on it now while you can. I hear it is really difficult to get your levels back up once they get too low. I was reading about how it takes half a day or more to get an IV infusion with the iron, so I do what I can to avoid that! Unjury protein is really good - even though I avoided it forever just because it was too raved about! I enjoy having the plain in my low-carb chai latte that I make with the Low carb milk (Carb Countdown).
So are you on a c-pap machine? I know when my brother went on his he lost 20 lbs almost right away. I think it raises your metabolism - isn't that cool???
Good to hear from you! Keep us updated on your progress!
