Looking for surgeon in Oregon

Good evening. I am new to this website, but I am enjoying reading everyone's journey with WLS. I live in Alaska, but I have been given the go ahead by my PCP to look into laparoscopic gastric banding. Since I have family in Oregon, I would like to find out if any of you recommend any particular surgeon in Oregon, preferably the Eugene-Portland area. I am originally from Eugene. Any information you can pass on to me will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I had my surgery with Dr. Dennis Hong. He is located in Portland and does surgery at Legacy Good Sam. He is in a practice with Dr. Emma Patterson. They have both made WLS their mission, and their entire practice is geared towards the before and after care for this procedure. I was very happy with my experience. In Eugene there is Dr Flanagan.. he seems to be the only one here.. I am going to Portland for Dr Clifford Deveney at the University hospital there.. My friend just had surgery with Flanagan and is doing great..

Also OHSU has a Bariatric program. They move VERY fast like 2 months from orientation to surgery. I was all set to go until my insurance decided to write in an exclusion.

Hi Patrtica. I had my surgery 7 weeks ago at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland. My doctor is Dr. O'Rourke. I had Laperscopic gastric bypass done,and have lost so far 50 lbs. I was very happy with my doctor and the care I received at OHSU. I work in a hosptial in Springfield,and I highly recommend OHSU. They are very fast at getting you schuduled for your appts and surgery. Good Luck on your journey.
