Hello!
After reading all the posting for the past few weeks I decided it was time to participate.
My name is Alaina and I am scheduled to have surgery at Good Sam in Portland with Dr. Hong on July 6th. I am very anxious and kinda scared for the surgery but happy that I am going to be having it done.
Just wanted to say that is nice to read all of your posts. They are reassuring!
XOXO to all!
Hi Alaina!
Welcome to this side of the message board. I am so happy for you, it sounds like things will go forward for you in July. I am eight weeks post-op with Dr. Hong. Your feelings are so normal! I feel so liberated from the anxiety of the before, in addition to the stresses of being so overweight. Best wishes for your day to come with no delays.
If you have any questions feel free to E-mail me.
Patty
Alaina - welcome! I'm glad you decided to join in with us!
Anxious and scared is a common thread most of us have had, it's hard to do, but it is good to try to look at the positive aspects and try to let the negatives slide. I'm not suggesting you stick your head in the sand, but you have already gone through the risks and benefits I'm sure. No need to dwell on things that make you anxious about now. Focus on seeing yourself in a new light and focus on your emotions and how you are going to deal with things changing for you when the time comes. That might keep you busy!
And don't forget to come here and join us often when you want to ask questions or just vent.
Dina
Welcome Alaina,
Get all your ducks in a row, prepare ahead of time so you won't have to worry when you get home about anything. Shop ahead, do your housework, pay stuff ahead, then you can rest and recover.
You didn't say what kind of surgery you where having, I had lap. Recovery was a breeze within reason of course, I really didn't feel like I had anything done. And considering that was my first major surgery of my life I thought that was pretty great.
Be prepared to feel more energetic, 10+ yrs. younger, and you get to watch the scale go down instead of up.
I find now that I actually have some bounce in my step, to where before I scuffed my feet!
Wishing you a quick and healthy recovery, we can't wait til you join us loosers on the other side.
We're here for any questions anytime....Good Luck!
