Well my tenative date of May 26, 2004 is a go. Let me start at the beginning. I called the girl at my doctors office this morning she said she would try calling them when she got through with the project she was doing. Well needless to say I'm not a person to sit and wait, so I called the insurance company. I explained to them the time factor, my doctor is taking a break from surgeries, if it wasn't next week I wouldn't be able to do it until end of June. At first I got its still being looked at, then I called the guy in charge of my appeal, and he looked up my info and said the magic words "IT WAS APPROVED ON FRIDAY THE LETTER WILL GO OUT TOMORROW" I almost cried on the phone. I called my doc's office back a was able to give them the good news first, then woke up my husband to tell him. Since then I have been on the phone or computer telling everyone else. Everyone keeps asking am I scared, no just excited.

Hi Ginger, Good for you! I am a month post-op, and I still hold that phone call that told me I was approved as the best moment of this journey. After so many phone calls and monitoring the progress of my case, I found out when I wasn't expecting it. It was a sunny day, I stopped in a little specialty grocery to get my husband something for dinner and my cell phone rang. I almost didn't answer it! My doctor's nurse said I had been approved! I turned my cart right to the aisle with the champagne, and bought a little bottle for a toast when my husband got home. It may make sense to people to be scared, but I don't think they know how easy it is when you are reaching towards freedom from obesity. Good luck!
