Help I think I obsessed

Help...I think I am obsessed.. I have never wanted anything as much as I want WLS I am so tired of being large.. I have read every everything there is on WLS and the different types.. I have read every profile I can get my hands on.. I bugged my PCP office until I got the referral.. I called and bugged my insurance to make sure they got the stuff from the PCP office.. the lady at my PCP office said she sent it .. the insurance said they didn't recieve it.. Got my referral.. what is wrong with me.. to top it all off I will have to do this alone.. well I have a couple friends.. but in order to have it done I have to do it in another town.. that is a couple hours away.. but I still want it done.. what is wrong with me (sigh) Renee

Renee, There is nothing wrong with you! You are just anxious to get moving on this procedure, as am I. My required lecture date is not until June 14th, I find it very frustrating to wait so long too! I have my okay from my PCP, she's done referrals for other patients. My insurance is one of the best for WLS, so I feel very fortunate. But, like you...it doesn't shorten up the wait! In the meantime, I'm going to WLS support group meetings, developing friendships there and through sights like this one. I know my input doesn't change things, but I hope it's a consolation that you're not alone! Michele

Where are you going for you manditory lecture thing.. I was told that there was one for me in June also in Portland.. I have Dr Deveney..

Renee - Honey pace yourself. From beginning to end it can take a year for the process and you don't want to burn out! As a recent post op..it took me 16months from the first time applied...denials, appeals etc... It is worth the wait and hassle. NETWORK in your area, make friends, research and start exercising from now! The more active you are the easier the recovery process which is difficult enough. Great advice from these ladies already. You're normal and shouldn't let yourself get worked up over it. Things will fall into place as time goes on and you'll relax more. Just take deep breaths and baby steps. Dina

Your not obsessed, I was the same way, I knew that this was the thing for me to do to get healthy. I too have to travel 2 1/2 hrs. away to Idaho for my Dr. appts, but he is well worth it! Not to mention where I live there isn't a Dr. who does this surgery. But not one regret, as a matter of fact I would have liked to have it done years ago! I too continue to check this board everyday to two days, just to keep up on myself and everyone. And I am almost 3 mo. post op! If you're like me, you will have it done and no regrets, just prepare yourself for the extra time away. I actually liked it because I didn't tell anyone I was having it until I came home! And there are still people asking me about my weightloss! Good Luck!

Renee, My surgery is 2 days away on the 21st. With Dr Deveny... I am more than happy to offer you a place to stay 5 miles from OHSU. I will even attend the lecture with you. I have a kid, so post op help will not be something I can do. But if you'd like I can offer you my home for the first few days--- bought recliners!... When is the informational seminar? Maybe its close to a support group meeting? anyways... It a thought.... have a good day Nancy

that is the sweeties thing that I have ever heard.. thank you ..the seminar I think is in June. I will know more when they call me..
