Honey, I'm Home!!!
Well, I'm home. Surgery was a good experience. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Dr. Flanagan did a fantastic job, the nurses were wonderful (well, almost ALL were, except a few, but what can you expect, perfection????) and I got to meet other losers like me, one of which is CJ!! Can you believe she took time out of her busy schedule to first call me to see how I was doing and then come and see me (someone she hadn't known for maybe even over 3 months) in person! She is the definition of ANGEL! It was great meeting her, and I hope we can become much closer friends as we update and talk about our "loser" lives. I also met two other postops literally as they "rolled" out of the recovery room. It was great to recover together and be a support group to one another. What a bond we have. It's incredible. Another gal, I can't remember her name unfortunately, but I WILL know her when I see her if she goes to the support group meetings, visited me also. I DID NOT know her, but apparently Dr. Flanagan told her there were three new post ops so she decided to come visit. Can you believe it? She was VERY sweet and totally motivating! I know of no other groups that have this kind of bond the moment you meet (online and in person.)
On a difficult note, we had been home less than an hour when my husband was in a pretty bad car accident while going to get my pain meds. He's fine, the other people are fine, but it was very harrowing considering I had to go next door to my neighbors and ask them to drive me there since I couldn't drive (I couldn't if I had tried), and I'm not even sure I should have BEEN out. I just felt like I had to go to the emergency room to be there with him. Anyways, we are all now home, doing fine (except the car, unfortunately), my surgery is over, I'm on the losing side, and my mom is here to help for two weeks. WHAT could be better?

HI! I'm glad you arae doing good--sorry about your husbands accident! He must have had so many things on his mind and now this accident too--it's just never a good time for an accident.
My friend from support group had her sugery with Dr. Flannigan on the 17th---you may have met her--her name is Marie--she is a wonderful lady and I sure hope she came through surgery ok too.
I'm so happy for you!
Congrats and welcome to the losing side of the game!
Sheri,
Yes I did meet Marie!! She is a very fine lady! I checked in with her, and she with me, over the two and a half days I was there the same time she was. She has been doing better and better every day and was feeling pretty good when I left. She was also starting her liquids yesterday (Friday) and seemed to be doing well with them. She was hoping to come home today (Saturday) or maybe tomorrow. I hope to keep in contact with her! If you talk to her soon, please tell her I said Hi!!!!

Oh my goodness..so sorry about the car.. but breathe a sigh of relief it was after he dropped you off and not before... even a minor accident can be life threatening so soon after WLS.. yikes!!! SOOoooOo glad you had your angels on.. and glad they were with your husband as well... a car is still just a car..( from the person who named hers...)
