While researching potential doctors for my upcoming move to Portland, I found out that my insurance only covers Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital and Medical Center. Can anyone provide any information on that facility and their bariatric doctors?
I tried to get additional information on the Legacy doctors and found that they are associated with Oregon Weight Loss Surgery clinic. Any information on that clinic? I'm somewhat concerned because OWLS does not list RNY as one of their surgical options.
Thanks for your help.
I attended the Legacy surgery seminar when I was starting the process. I thought they had a really good seminar which was presented by Dr. Halpin. She seem very knowledgable and had quite the background in weight loss surgery procedures. My primary had recommended Legacy and their Director Dr. Emma Patterson. I have heard nothing but god things.

Thanks so much for your info. It's reassuring to hear your positive comments.
I've since been in contact with OWLS and have learned they have the Center for Excellence certification. That's a real plus in my book. And, they do perform RNY and provide post-op care and support.
Due to insurance requirements, I don't have much choice and they're my only option. But, it seems to be a quality facility.

Thanks for the confirmation. It's very reassuring to know there are quality options in Portland. I've really been impressed with my doctors at my current location. And, I certainly can't argue with the success after surgery.
BTW, you are doing great based on your surgery date in December. Keep up the good work.
Dr. Patterson did mine. She's a very good surgeon and I highly recommend her. Dr. Smith was her assistant at that time and so I actually had them both. Dr. Halpin also worked with them and I've heard nothing but good about her. I think with all the choices you've been given you're golden no matter which you choose.
