I got May 15 as a surgery date. It is going to take some work to make it happen. I might have to now after all of this put it off for a month!! My daughter have my first grandchild in a couple of weeks and I have to go to Alaska to help her. Then my other daughter graduates...So just how fast can I expect to be working at capacity again after lapband surgery?

Congratulations on your surgery date, Tina! I am a day ahead of you so maybe we can meet in the ward! Congratulations on your daughter's pending childbirth and your other daughter's graduation!  Is your other daughter graduating from college/university? As for how soon you expect to be working at capacity after lapband surgery, Lori B can advise you on that.  But that may be up to the surgeon himself. Best of luck!

Hi Vicki-were you at the preop meeting/class on Monday at OHSU? I did have a look around the table-but couldnt figure out who or if you were there. If you were there-I came in late and was at the end of the table opposite from the projector screen. Tina

Hi Tina! Yes, I was at the surgery prep class last Monday.  I was the grey-haired woman who was wearing a dark blue jacket over a light blue shirt.  I sat at the right of Vicki J at the conference table. I had to go down to the PAT clinic right after class.  Sorry we didn't get a chance to chat after the class. PS: I got to chat with lowellian before the surgery prep class.  She had DS surgery last year.  She posts on the DS board more often than on this board.  She sure is a real sweetie!

Well hello there! I was kind of looking around the table trying to figure out who you were!

Alas, nobody introduced themselves at the seminar.  But I did notice on the sign-in sheet that we all had surgery dates on the same week. Plus, the man in the black T-shirt, who was sitting opposite me a bit to my right, announced before the seminar that he had gone from over 600# to 520#!  What a feat for him! I understand that you will be having the lap-band, but who will be your surgeon? I don't see either info on your avatar.  Will you be leaving the hospital on the same day of your surgery or the next day?

I have Dr. Wolfe (I think he is the only doc who does that particular surgery). Yes he said just over night. I can come visit you on my walking route if you are not up and about as quickly as I will probably be-you can email me ([email protected]) with your full name and I will make sure and do that. Tina

That's great news!!  Your surgery is surrounded by great family events.  Congratulations!! I attended a big deal recital of my daughter's very shortly after my surgery.  Loaded up on pain meds and no body really noticed.  I had my husband helping by dropping my off at the door, making sure I didn't have to climb bleachers to sit, etc.  If you are planning a big family party though - you would have to be good a letting go and delegating stuff.  A bit of planning and I'm sure it could still work.  Being post-op was a *****allenging, but I was so happy I felt like I could get through it all.
