I'M BACK!!!!
Hello everyone!
I have been off this forum since June 2007. Some of you may remember me. My screen name is Silverthorn but my real name is Sheryl E.
I just finished fighting breast cancer. I had an aggressive stage three. So I have been pretty darned sick all of these months. Recovering from a total mastectomy and then having nasty reactions to the chemotherapy. I worked driving my school bus through my first four chemo, but I was unable to with taxol my second half of chemotherapy. I was anemic, and had alot of physical pain, so I took my pain drugs and checked out from the world for awhile. My last chemo was on 12-17-07 so I am two months out. My hair is coming back, but it's totally grey now, it may just stay that way, and I don't care. It's great to be alive!
Recently, I contacted Dr. Patterson's office up at Legacy Good Samaritan and I am now back on for my lap-band surgery. I need to lose 22 lbs., and I have already lost nine. I am excited to be back.
Since fighting cancer and winning. I realize there is nothing that can scare me anymore. My faith in God helped through this. When I felt like crying, I would remember the pain he suffered for all of us, and then I could endure it or take my meds. Humor, although at times it was pretty sick helped alot too.

Hi Sheryl, Welcome back! I'm glad to hear your encouraging words of victory over cancer. What a survivor you are! I too have been very sick the last part of last year when my first WLS was too aggressive for me and I lost WAY too much weight. So I had a revision last Nov. and am now bouncing back. It's amazing how adversity strengthens us. I'm sure I can get through anything thrown my way now.
Congratulations to you for being so strong, and for following your dream. Good luck with it all.
Hi Sheryl,
I remember you from the McMinnville support group. My husband and I came up from Coos Bay. You are truly amazing and a very strong woman. I'm so glad that you are a strong person of faith. As a nurse, I know that faith can make a hugh difference in recovery. I am excited that you are preparing now for weight loss surgery. Since my surgery nine years ago I feel like a new, whole, healthy woman. My prayers will continue to be with you.
Best Regards,
Robin
Welcome back, Sheryl!
I joined OH shortly after you took the leave.
I am glad to see that you're a very positive and optimist person!
Hope to meet you in our get-togethers sometime.
PS: I see that you're in Independence. I lived in Monmouth for about six months before moving to Salem.
