New to WLS and have questions
I feel that I am not doing enough or losing enough weight. I walk 3.5 miles every day at an aerobic pace, try and watch everything I eat. Oh, I had RNY on Dec 7, 2007, so I am just about 3 months post op. At my last check up I was only down about 28 lbs. I am just trying walking at first, at least until I lose some more weiight and my knees dont hurt so much. I wonder if I have lost enough weight and worry all the time. I am eating reguar food, scratch that, I am eating a healthy diet now, rich with soy protien, fresh frutis and veggies, fat free yogurts, the whole shabang. Am I just stressing too much? Can I have caffine now? It does not stimulate my appetite...and I miss it greatly.
If you had your RNY on December 7 to Feb 7 is two months not three and a loss of 28 pounds in that period seems wonderful to me!! From everything that I have read about RNY your prime loss period is between 12 and 18 months. If you are losing 14 pounds per month for the next 12 months that is 168 pounds total. Over 18 months is would be a loss of 252. I don't know what your goal weight is or that you will manage to keep up the same pace of loss but I would be super happy to lose 168 over even an 18 month period.
Does this help you feel better? I hope so!!!
Tina
Yes, Thank you Tina, that is a big help. I was (and am) not very good at math obviously. So now this is all starting to make sense to me, plus, reading lots of the other posts helped me understand much more. I just have to remember that everything and every body is different..... and 14 lbs a month sounds good to me.
OMG....YOU are doing GREAT!!!!
Relax (do the math) and if/when things slow down, recheck your calorie intake (make sure you're getting enough) and switch up your exercise. YOU are going to succeed at this...
KEEP IT POSITIVE!!!! (attitude is 9/10th of the battle)
