The household was on alert that I was going to breakfast with my WLS friends this morning.  I made the decision to turn to Motrin because my knee has had kind of a bad week - and my tummy didn't feel so good this morning.  Sorry guys!!!  I was really really looking forward to seeing you all.  Long time no see! I know the rule is no NSAIDs as a gastric by-pass patient.  I have always understood it as that we are at a greater risk of burning a hole in our pouch.  I don't know the why of that...is it the small size of it or what?  When I was struggling with knee pain post-op - Dr. Hong gave me permission to try using NSAIDs on occasion if it helped and didn't disagree with me.  So I don't feel like I risked an immediate bleeding ulcer if I ever dared to try them.  I took starting on Friday and I must say the knee bending improved noticeably.  Does any one have any experience or wisdom about taking non-prescription or prescription NSAIDs post-op? Sorry we missed you at breakfast this morning.  12 of us showed up and we had a good time!  Hope you will be able to make our next one. Have you thought about taking NSAIDs in liquid form?  I understand that pain relievers can be taken in liquid form.  Check with your doctor for sure.

Patty - I was told that if I had to resort to NSAIDS (not recommended at all) that I would need to take something like Prilosec, Ranitidine, etc., to buffer their effects on the stomach.  They will tear up the small stomach you have without some protection. I missed the breakfast this morning also, because of the promise of nasty weather.  I guess that has been delayed by about 12 hours. Linda

I guess I got your seat! I watched for you and for Joy, but... We can call a breakfast any Sunday, even EVERY Sunday. It would be great to see you again soon. You were definitely missed. Hope things get better for you and the knee. I take what I need when I need it. Usually  Aleve. xooxoxo tee

Yeah, you even got to miss my before and after pics (since I've finely lost enough to *really* make it noticeable)...  There's always next time, though.  Hope you're feeling better soon. Lori

You are looking GREAT Lori! We missed you Patty and Linda.  We will have to plan these more often. Seems like we say that then months go by. I really liked the Village Inn. I thought the variety of food was good and I got strawberry blintzes that were SUPER delicious!

It was nice (and thanks for the compliment) but I can't wait for warmer weather so that maybe someone could host a BBQ and we could bring our favorite dishes.  Then we could really open up and discuss to our heart's content the things that just aren't restaurant-friendly topics (and allow for better circulation of people and conversation).  We didn't have one last year, did we? Oh, and I had the strawberry blintzes, too.  They were incredible (I just didn't get the bacon or hashbrowns.  That would have been too much food for me.  OMG!  I can't believe I actually said that!

Thanks!  The other thought about the casual get together is, since we've been doing it on Sundays, there may be some people *****gularly go to church who would like to attend but can't because of timing.
